You'd probably get better digital multichannel audio if you source it from the Comcast Cable Box. Treat it like any digital source audio component and skip the TV, which adds nada to the audio by being in the loop.

On the other hand your video will be best if IT goes straight to the TV from the Box and skips the Philips. Again, nothing gained and more possibly failing interconnects if it routes to the HTS.

There is no software update as it is already able to play BluRay 3D as detailed in the Manual.

Before you start, make sure that:

• your TV is a 3D TV, and is connected

to your home theater through HDMI,

• your disc is a Blu-ray 3D disc, and

• you have 3D glasses that are
compatible with your 3D TV.

or the 'Fault' could be that the 3D is turned off

Play 3D discs in 2D

1 Press ( Home ).

2 Select [Setup] > [Video] > [Blu-ray 3D

video] > [Off] .

3 Press OK .

4 Play your Blu-ray 3D disc.
» The 3D video is displayed in 2D.

If it is selected as Off then obviously turn in On.

Think about where you TV audio originates. Unless you have an antenna on your TV, everything IT hears comes from an external audio device like a cable/sat box which almost certainly has a digital audio output and/or HDMI.

I would recommend you carefully utilize your limited connections this way:

Using Page 10 as a guide.

IF your TV has 2 HDMI's or one HDMI AND one Component input:

Cable box (Component Out and Analog Stereo RCA) or HDMI Out to corresponding TV In's if available.

Cable Box coaxial audio to the HTS (3). This way the best broadcast TV multichannel audio goes to the best electronics and speakers.

HTS HDMI Out (9) to TV Component In (if available), otherwise use Component Out (7). I recommend saving the highest quality video delivery path for your native BD because broadcast Hi-Def video is always bandwidth compromised while BD is the best video available today.

Composite Video Out (6) to Composite Video In on TV for HTS management functions.

You still have both Aux In (4) pairs).

The system must run through its routine before it can start up. If a mechanism is jammed or a switch is not contacting, it won't complete its routine and therefore will not start up.

Question edited for clarity. It you have standby, that shows you have power. The only things you can try is a Power Reset, disconnect from the mains, for 10 minutes. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds and then plug back in. If you are using a remote, check the batteries in the remote. You can also do the check to make sure the remote is putting out a signal. Aim the remote at the front facing selfie of a smartphone. You should see a flash. There doesn't seem to be one for this chinesium speaker.Probably a throw away item and not serviceable.

The skipping problem you are experiencing may be related to the shaft that the laser assy rides on. It may need a little greasing with silicon grease, just a litte bit. Or it could be the spindle motor is wobbling as it turns. If you are a little tech savy, then you can order a new CD drive assy through Ebay and swap it out when it arrives. If you get this far you need to know how to remove the solder short on the new assy otherwise the new drive will not work.
