YOU rebuilt the engine? Everything in there is precision aligned etc and done in a space age factory---I hate to say it but everyone I HAVE SEEN ATTEMPT IT was involved in a mess.Good luck and hope you reach a good ending with the set.

I presume the model number listed with the question is correct.Usually a color wheel has some sort of noise associated with a failure or fault.I have seen the wheel for this model on EBAY at over $260 and most of the Sharps sell it only with a replacement optical engine.The color wheel faces the lamp and the pie segments spread and direct the light into the engine, if you heard any kind of fan like or high pitched sound the wheel may be your problem. Wheel is moving at about 12,000 rpm.Usually a problem in the digital processing area will not shut the picture/set off.I am not sure if it is the color wheel that it is a viable repair/ cost versus replacing set with something new.Let me know if any unusual sounds from wheel etc during or at shutdown.You may also want to Google the model number with color wheel replacement to to see if it is a do it yourself job.In either case based on cost of part it may not be a good idea to fix it.Let me know any information or concerns you have as I am here to help you.SD TECH Steve

That humming noise was your color wheel going bad. It is part of the optical engine. I am not sure if you can replace it separately. In any case this is complicated and expensive repair.

Looks like we all got screwed with this TV. Mine just started after 2 years and now it's getting louder. I think I rather call my lawyer than Tech. This product is NOT build properly and someone should let the company know about it.

Any local television repair shop, eBay etc. Best bet would be to google your part number for the best price.

U hear grinding noises,squiling noise,before colors fades in&out,turn to Black&White picture,than died?Yes,than ur DLP tv have a colors wheel,it defective,require replacing.The colors wheel is spinning off of it motor axis.The tv tech,should be hire for changing the tv colors wheel.

If you are comfortable - you can try taking the color wheel out of the tv. Pop the motor apart and clean all the residue on the bearing/spindle. Then lubricate and put it back together. Search on google for how to do this.

There is a company that replaces the motor. Search on ebay for them.

There are at least three fans in that unit. You should clean them regularly. Also there is a color wheel in the unit and it spins very fast. When they start to go bad then you get a noise also. The bad news is that as of April of this year there was no color wheel replacement for it and the whole unit is 700 to 800 plus labor. It is probably not worth it. You can call a local repair shop and see what they say. I would say that it is the color wheel. You can open the back and see what the location of the noise is and you can clean it while you are in there. If the noise sounds more like a buzz then it could be the ballast that powers the light. I just am going to stick with the color wheel though.

would it power up before? if so make sure your bulb is seated properly if it did'nt then your ballst is most likely your problem you will need a tech to help you out

What is Wrong with TV? Have you replaced Lamp? If so and still no picture then it can be Ballast Board it connects to Lamp Box , Ballast is what turns Lamp on Call Encompass 1-800-638-3328 or Mats 1-800-628-1118 and you can also look up Parts on E-Bay!
