computer disks are different then DVDs. you probably burned on DVR format. you can get a converter and make sure the file on the disk is AVI or, DVD

is there a speaker ( other than built in ) near the tv? ( if so, move speaker away from tv.

I have to disagree with the previous answer you got. It's a common scenario that someone uses his DVD player to play CD's and then the point is lost. DVD players DO get plagued with dusty lenses, same as any other disc player. If you can get to the lens its worth a try, but from your post it seems that you should take it to a pro lab. I say this because you'll have to open the TV chasis to get there, and TV's are just about the most dangerous home appliance to mess with. Touch the wrong spot, even when plugged out, and you can get bit by enough voltages to kill. Take care and good luck

You have bad grounds on the power supply board. The power supply will have the flyback transformer. You must pull this board out and really, really look for bad solder grounds. Check for cracked or separated pins on transistors,resistors, capacitors,diodes, jumpers and transformers (on the solder side of the board). Resolder as necessary. Be sure to check grounds on the vertical IC, you do not want to short the pins together with excess solder. I'm sure you can fix this TV. It takes patience and a very good eye,...eyes! This is good advice. I do not believe you will need to replace parts. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I just had that same problem. i tried turning the tv off and then but didn't work. What worked for me was tu unplugged the power chord from the outlet, wait for 5 seconds, then replugged it, turn the tv on and while it's turning on open the dvd tray. It should open without problem. At least it worked for me.

It's trying to tell you that you've (accidentally) activated Tamper Proof Mode. It will not allow you to insert cassettes or DVDs until it is deactivated.

To deactivate, press and hold the T.PROOF button on the original Sharp remote for at least 3 seconds. (Possibly up to 10 seconds).



This is the remote for the 27DV-S100 as listed above. If you have a different model, look for a button on your Sharp remote labelled T.PROOF or TAMPER PROOF and press and hold it for at least 3 seconds. If you don't have the original Sharp remote, please let me know the brand and model number of the remote you are using with the TV (if any).

ok you have the wrong cables they need to be component cables they are green blue purpule

www.remotes.com would have a solution for that original remote. Other then that you do need a remote to get into the menu to rescan for channel 3 because channel 3 is used by devices like dvd'svcr's game consoles the signal is not there all the time so when the tv trys to scan it it finds nothing and ends up on the delete list. What I am saying here in a nutshell this will not be resolved without a remote take it for what its worth it is what it is. You could use your cable box remote if you have like cox,comcast,timewarner etc etc but you then still have to program it for the menu button why play with that? I get no kickback from remotes.com nothing zip zilch nada. They will give you a original remote for a price. It means an addressing transistor for one column of pixels is dead. It can probably be repaired. It would be statistically unlikely for more than a couple of pixels to die over the lifetime of a set.

I wouldn't want to make big guesses without actually seeing the circuit boards myself. Every LCD TV brand and when it was made is different on how they use the protection mode. The most newer TV turns themselves OFF automatically and flash a red light trouble code.

The best way to go about this is to have the Service Manual for the TV. That way, you'll have the circuit schematics for the board. It will also have test points for voltages on the board. Basically, everything you need as far as part numbers list, diagrams, and testing procedures.

I would test each mini transformer on the board to see if one has burned out by an open circuit or a short. There is a possibility the LCD controller board is the problem. The Service Manual will help you out big time to find the problem. Replacement parts can be found over the internet by searching with the part number off the Service Manual.

Yes it can be repaired as most combo TV's have just about the same analogue box as you have described, all it needs is someone who is good with a soldering iron to de-solder the analogue receiver and solder a new one onto it.
You can pick a analogue receiver box up from any good electronic store or you can go to an electronic scrap yard and get one for free!! LOL

If not then take down the product number and order one, it should cost no more that $10 (£15)
