The click you hear is the camera switching from day time to night time, the reason you don t see a picture might be created by a defective cable running from the camera to the DVR.

Voltage will not be your problem. Amperage could be. BUT, a system like that does not draw much power. May be an old system. Depends on how many cameras you have running on the unit.
