All the Toshiba's I've seen come through my door for service are 14 months and newer. He's correct. Very poor for parts availability.

hi....Your micro chip is faulty check the voltage comming out of the 42nd leg it shuold be 13 volts dc if you are not getting that voltage replace the microchip.and the eeprom IC....

Check the settings for the CC (closed captioning) on your menu. Make sure it is turned off - if it is set to TEXT mode you will get a black box in the middle of the screen. Also look for a button on your remote labeled "CC"

No you have a power supply problem on this TV set. Pretty common for this make as the capacitors and the regulator circuit In my opinion is way under rated, as there is no head room on the power supply in cases of when the screen turns really bright, or you could have a ballist problem in your backlight circuit. All of these are non repairable by the user unless you have solid state repair experience. Good Luck

There is an email link. You don't say WHY you want a firmware update, but firmware in not supplied for televisions according to our Fixya television expert Larry. Firmware updating is fraught with danger and should not be undertaken lightly even when it is available. No, you just told the television to format the USB into its own formatting format. It doesn't back it up for you. You should have purposely made a back up of everything on the USB memory stick to your computer. If you haven't done that, you can put the USB stick into the computer and use 'Undelete' software.
