Tv shut down about 2 seconds after it turn on
Short circuit protection. The power supply regulator section to your TV is working properly, but after the power supply starts on, it detects a short circuit, by any of the main board section circuit. How to hook up a
Ur tv have colors R,Y,W Video,Audio IN holes from the back or the front wright?The DVD player have R,Y,W Video,Audio out holes from the back wright?Used the AV component cable R,Y,W hook it up to the tv R,Y,W Video,Audio IN holes,the other side of the AV component cable to the back of the DVD player R,Y,W holes.Now u are all hook up and ready to play movies.
I don't know how to set the tv to receive all of the channels
Enter the "menu" and select auto program. This will allow the set to search for all available channels. There is also a possibility that when you hooked it up the little wire center conductor in the cable might have been bent over when you hooked it up. Check that first.
Tv repair
A vertical line means the line is up and down in the middle of the screen. That would indicate that the vertical IC and the surrounding components are working perfectly. A vertical line as described is the result of a lack of horizontal deflection (to move the beam from side to side) Since the high voltage is obviously OK, the problem is most likely a bad solder connection in the horizontal yoke circuit. Examine the bottom of the PC board in the area of the flyback transformer, and yoke connector (has four wires Red, Blue, Green, Yellow).and the pincousion coils, capacitors, etc in between. Flexing the board in that area may cause the problem to come and go. Resulting arcing should also be visible. BE CAREFUL, as hazardous voltages are present in the circuit!
Excessive brightness with horizontal retrace lines
This usually means the red, green and blue driver transistors on the CRT board have lost their 180 volt pull up voltage. So you will be looking for a diode off of the flyback transformer that usually will have a current limiting resistor before it that has opened. These resistors are usually low in value.
Need unlock parental code

on my Sharp 36R-s400. Go to menu , then parental control. When dispaly asks for secret number,
press and hold volume up and channel down simultaneously until message is cleared.
This turns off parental control and clears the password.
