when u say volume control is this via the remote? if it is the contacts on the back of the remote buttons may be dirty - some remotes come apart with some screws, however most clip together - if u can open it, clean the contacts with alcolhol cleaner - like tape head cleaner fluid same stuff

I found this on another site - after a lot of looking..... it worked for me!!

1. Turn on the dvd player.
2. Press eject
3. Type in 0000 on remote
4. A menu called region edit should appear.
5. Press 0 again for all regions.
6. Press enter
7. It goes to another region code menu
8. Press 0 again and then enter
6. Switch off dvd player and switch back on.
