The input to the laptop usually requires a stereo or TRS type 1/8 inch plug If the mic has an XLR type connector, you need a special cable that connects the XLR pins 1 and 3 (adjacent pins) to the shield of the 1/8 inch plug and pin 2 of the XLR connector to BOTH the tip and ring of the little stereo jack. Such a cable is not commonly available so the best is to make one from parts you get at Radio Shack.

Depending on what operating system you have, you need to open up the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel and make sure the Sound Recoring device is enabled. You may have to load a driver to enable it. You can also adjust the "microphone" or "line in" recording volume in that window (assuming you have Windows XT or later operating system).

its probably a wire came loose, unscrew the head (airguard) then you should h ave 2 tiny screws that hold the switch in place, carefully slide it forward and as you do push the main cord for the amp plug in along with it as you push it through,, check those wires to be sure the connection hasn't come loose

No, but you do need one thing. You have two options. Option one is a Mixer with USB output or USB Interface. Option two is to buy a USB Audio Interface. Personally, I'd go with option one because you can control every aspect of the mic and the music or instrument. The USB Interface does need a driver but it is included. The R21S Mic is an XLR Dynamic Mic.

Hello Tcatkins, hi!, PC IN is the sound input for the computer audio to the stereo. The connection is from PC green port audio to the PC in of your stereo.

This is because this microphone has an XLR audio connector for output. YOU CAN'T USE THIS CONNECTOR FOR THE USB PORT since the XLR is an audio type connector while USB is a data type connector. You might use a cable with XLR female at one end and 3.5mm jack like this one with mono jack at the end (not stereo as the amazon's link) and connect this cable at the microphone and at the sound card of your computer. The quality with this solution won't be very good, it depends on your audio card. A better solution is to use XLR-to-USB-Signal-Adapter/dp/B001PPXFAG/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1290885531&sr=8-16">this adaptor or equivalent in order to connect the mic on the adapter and the adapter with a USB cable at your computer. It's a better but more expensive solution.

Not really the mic's fault - just incompatible.
Your Samson mic is a "dynamic" type and the laptop is expecting a "condensor" type.
You could put the mic through a preamp first but easier to exchange for a more suitable type.

Hello sir/maam, most (almost all) mic are mono, and the microphone mixer circuit splits the signal to two channel left and right, and fed to two amplifiers, then to two speakers. IF by any chance only mono, we need to trace the path where the mic signal is fed, and where the signal dissappeared, check also your balance control.

If your mic mixer circuit is designed for one channel, contact your local tech to check out or make connection to both channel.

First I'd check the cable and make sure it's alright. Try another cable you know is good. If it still has low output unfortunately, it's probably the capsule.If the mic is new I'd send it in for warranty repair if not contact samson @ their website for repair info.

youneedd to go to the sound controller on your laptop and check in the properties for your sound card that the input has your mic selected and that it has been enabled go to start then control panel then audio and sound the box for mic or input is there make sure your mike is selected

No because the mic is a signel in device and the headphone jack is a signal out jack! meaning if you plug the mic into it the mic will act as a speaker and music will come out of it and ruin it!
I would buy an adapter at radio shack and plug it into the phono input on the back of unit! and if you dont have a phono input you will need to buy a small pre-amp and plug it into the aux or tape input!
