Why will the camera power on when plugged in, but will not power on when useing batteries?, the batteries are new

Batteries are new but are you sure that they are good? Did you test them for voltage and amperage? Weak batteries will often not work in older digital cameras because they needs lots of power from good, strong battery.

How can I use my camera with my windows xp system?

If you use a memory card then you don't need a driver. Once the card is plugged in to a card reader attached to your computer, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Yes, you may install the PDC 640 camera TWAIN driver only. The PDC 640 TWAIN driver can be used with most TWAIN compliant image editing software. The most current driver is available for download on our website and is compatible with Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP (there is no compatibility with Windows NT at this time).

Is it possible to recover my pictures?

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted. When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead. If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned. If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it. One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted photos is to try some picture recovery software. The camera beeps when we

The images you take with your PDC 640 camera are stored on a removable 3.3V SSFDC or SmartMedia 2 MB memory card (also available in 4 MB and 8 MB). Note: You must insert the memory card before you can turn on the camera.

If camera beeps is enabled, the camera beeps if the card is not installed and displays the [ ] message on the Status panel.

To insert the memory card:
1. Make sure the lens cover is closed (the power is off).
2. Open the memory compartment on the side of the camera.
3. Insert the memory card into the slot (gold side of the card facing the front of the camera).
Make sure the card is pushed firmly into the slot. Note: The camera prompts you to format the memory card if it is not formatted. The camera displays the format menu on the LCD viewfinder. Press the button next to Format.
4. Close the memory compartment cover.

If you can, try using a different memory card. Else, your memory card contact terminals inside the camera may have become worn, causing the camera to not recognize the card once it is inserted. I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jeremy_69f3cc28d95bf514

Error - Kernel32.dll

Microsoft defines Kernel32 errors as follows: "The Kernel32.dll file is a 32-bit dynamic link library file that is found in Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millenium Edition (Me). The Kernel32.dll file handles memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. When you start Windows, Kernel32.dll is loaded into a protected memory space so that other programs do not take over that memory space. On occasion, you may receive an invalid page fault (IPF) error message. This error message occurs when a program tries to access the Kernel32.dll protected memory space. Occasionally, the error message is caused by one particular program, and other times the error message is provoked by multiple files and programs." .

I don't see anything in the color LCD.

If the color LCD is not illuminated when the camera power is turned on, check the following: * The camera may be in the wrong mode. Run this check to test the LCD: 1. Make sure the camera power is on (the lens cover should be open). 2. Press the Review button (top left) on the back of the camera. The LCD will display the last photo taken. To exit the Play mode, turn the camera power off. * The camera may be connected to a TV. Disconnect the camera from the TV and try the LCD again. * The batteries may be weak. Replace the batteries or use the AC adapter. To save battery power, use the optical viewfinder when composing photos.

Types of batteries.

You can use AA disposable batteries (alkaline or lithium) or rechargeable (NiMH or Nicad) batteries. Lithium batteries last much longer, but are generally quite a bit more expensive than alkaline batteries. You should never mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries. If you use Nicad batteries, it is recommended that you use a Nicad conditioning charger to extend the life of the batteries. Note: If you use rechargeable batteries, you will need a battery charger. The camera's AC power supply does not recharge batteries.

My PDC 640 digital camera's memory locks up.

The camera memory may "lock" as it reaches its limit. With the camera disconnected from the PC, and on battery power, turn off the camera by closing the lens cover. Remove and reinsert the memory card. Now turn on the camera -- it should power on properly.

ERROR: code 402 in LED panel

Error code 402 indicates an issue with the SmartMedia card. Make sure that the memory card is properly inserted into the camera. If the card is not the one that was originally packaged with your camera, check to make sure that it meets the camera's requirements. The PDC 640 digital camera accommodates SmartMedia cards at 2 MB, 4 MB and 8 MB capacities. If the condition persists after checking the above, the SmartMedia card may be faulty or corrupted and in need of replacement.
