Sounds like one or both of your IC chips burnt out. You will need to replace them. A good place to purchase high quality IC chips is convergencechips.com.Be careful there are a lot of fakes out there that don't last and cost you more money in the long run.

BOTTOM CONVERGENCE IS OUT

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem. Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems. 7859b01.jpge87380c.jpg 69189a5.pngSOLUTION #1What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is CloudyProjection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images. CRT fluid for Philips 60PL92000D

  • dEAR sIR:

Turn on the TV set, bring up the convergence menu and make sure the three colors--red, green and blue--converge and overlap at the cross in the center of the screen. This is needed to help converge the TV later. Turn off and unplug the TV.

  • 2

Remove the front screen by popping off the bezel and pulling the three combined screens out. Place wide cellophane tape around the frame to prevent the three screens from separating. Lay the screen someplace where it won't be bent or scratched.

  • 3

Remove the circuit board from the bottom of the CRT neck. It may be held in place by one screw or glued in place with silicon. Pull it out without twisting it.

  • 4

Disconnect the large red wire from the high voltage transformer by grasping it with a large side cutter and rocking it from side to side to lift up the fastener. Disconnect the two bundles of wires from the main circuit board and leave them hanging from the CRT.

  • 5

Remove the ground connectors by releasing their tabs with a narrow screwdriver.

  • 6

Remove the CRT assembly from the TV by removing its four flat-bladed screws and pulling it out of the TV. Lay the CRT down with its filler plug facing up in a location far away from the TV's circuit boards.

    sincerely. God bless you

    Having i think convegence board

Replacing the convergence board will require a complete convergence adjustment. A better solution would be the replacing of the defective convergence IC. This would retain the convergence settings for the set. I'll locate the part numbers and costs and update this later.

    Bowed screen at top

Is It the screen (the plastic/glass) or the picture that is bowed? If it is the front screen, you just need to re-install the screen in the frame. If it is the picture you need to get the projector re-aligned.

    Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

    2c07611.pngSolution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

The lamp can cause a dark picture if it is defective. There is an access door to the lamp. Take the lamp out and inspect it. Especially at the bottom of the center stem where you may see a bubbling of the glass. If so it is bad for sure. Other problem could be in the main board. For good price on lamp with housing go to pureglare.com and enter the model number.
