I have a blinking red
Glad I found you. I started to answer your question when the power went out here. Ok, for starters the first thing to repair is the convergence board, How do we know it is bad? Pull the back cover off. You will find two boards on the floor of this TV.In between these boards you will find jumper connections that connect these boards. Find the location number 1516 (next to the jumper cable). TV is unplugged of course, disconnect this jumper. Now power up your TV (plug it in the wall), and turn it on. The picture and sound will come back. The picture will be bent and curved as well. Unplug your TV. The board you will remove will have all the RCA jacks and RF connections. The large board on the floor is called the signal module. You will have to replace the convergence ICs. They will be the STK 392-110 ( two of these) and mounted on a couple of large heat sinks. You will replace these ICs and some 1 or 2 watt low ohm resistors. You may call Union Electronics and purchase a refurbished board with core exchange, if you feel you cannot repair on a component level. This number is 1 800 648 6657. Price may be $192, plus shipping and exchange may be $50.This is a smart move as the replacement board will have a warranty. The second idea, if you feel you can do a component repair, is to contact the website TvRepairKits.com. This web site is very complete and has photos with all instructions and parts. Price here may be $79. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!
The screen seems to be pretty dark, like the color
Chances are that you will need to change out the coolant fuild in Tubes Philips are well know for having Bad Coolant Fuild in the Green/Blue Tubes. You can remove the back and turn TV on Then Look down inside Tubes if picture is not Clear then coolant fuild is bad.
Mats Electronics has coolant fuild 1-800-628-1118
To much red. Can not
These sets are well know for having Bad Coolant Fuild in the Blue and Green Tubes ,you need to remove back and turn TV on and then Look down inside of each Tube if you can not see picture clearly then Fuild needs to be changed out. Mats Electronics sells Fuild 1-800-628-1118

I have a Philips 60"
The set will need a convergence repair kit. Or to turn the red CRT off you can turn the screens down on the red CRT untill it shuts off, But the set will have a very blue or green picture and will not be very good to watch. A convergence repair kit is the best way. You can get the repair kit with instructions from

My tv makes a "chirping"
If you can remove the back cover, do so. Be certain the TV is unplugged first. Inside this TV you will see two large boards on the floor, one on the left, the other on the right. Look to find jumper jacks that connect these two boards. They will be white and wide. About three inches long and a inch and half wide. Look for location number 1516. Remove one end of this. Now plug the TV in and turn it on.See if the screen lights up, stays on or just comes on for a few seconds and goes out. If you experience any thing just said, you will need to replace the convergence board. This board is located on the left. It could be other things as well, but try this first. This is a very common problem for this TV. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!
I have an 60PP9202 Rear projection HD TV and the
You will need to remove the back cover. Here you will dust the lens with a pressure can of air only. Then you proceed to clean the lens with an eye glass damp cloth Get these from an eye doc). As for the mirror, you must use real caution. This mirror is made of a stretched plastic. The best way to clean this is to use a new feather duster. Do not even think of using anything wet to clean this mirror. It is very fragile. Let me add, that you want to do this from the rear also. Next, I would not recommend you try to pull the front cover (screen) off. It would be next to impossible to put the screen back on the TV. You will also feather dust the inside of the screen from the rear. No wetting solution here. Be sure your TV is not plugged in. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Hello,
The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.
The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.
All these can be checked on the power supply board.
But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.
The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)
You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.
What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).
You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.
Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.
If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.
I hope this helps.
Regards.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

I too am experiencing the chirping sound upon
Hi.
The chirping sound you hear is almost always caused by a faulty capacitor.
As they fail, sometimes the casing cracks on them, and when you go to turn it on, the sudden pressure increase causes a whistle that sounds like a chirp.
Although this sounds like an easy fix, it's not.
Capacitors hold tremendous amounts of energy in them, and they can be very dangerous do deal with.
Some can hold in excess of 500 volts of static electric charge in them, and have injured several people that thought that they could just work with them like normal electronic parts.
I would take the tv to BestBuy, or to Fry's Electronics...as they are the two companies that seem to have the best trained techs for this type of repairs.
When you take it in, have them give you a written estimate first.
You may find that the cost of the repair can be as expensive as the cost of a new TV.
Just bear this in mind before you get it fixed, ok?
I hope this helps you out, and good luck to you!
If this helps you out, then please feel free to give me a good rating, ok?
Thanks !
I need to know how
Connect you hd cable box to the hdmi input. If you don't have an hdmi input and have a DTV input you can get an HDMI to DTV adaptor. I hope this helps.
Does the Phillips 60 HDTV
Unless you are using a cable tv provider to receive your local channels you will definitely need a converter.
Depending on the cable provider will determine if you will need one at that time.
Thanks,
Robert

Picture is getting darker all the time.I updated
Check the CRT fluid in the blue and green CRTs to be sure it is clear and not cloudy. A common problem. Since you mentioned the problem was gradual over time, I'm guessing it is the fluid. This would be more obvious if you were seeing like a frosted look to the picture or dark areas and bright areas, which are caused as the fluid clouds up. The picture tends to be more red as well.
Your alternative is to try adjusting the screen voltage of each bulb on the focus block of the tv. I think with an older Philips the screen/focus block is in the back of the tv. This is the little black module with six knobs coming out of it. Three knobs are for focus, and three are for CRT voltage.
Follow these steps:
Note: Be careful here, as hazardous voltages are very near by. Only use one hand inside the tv.
a) With tv turned on, go to a blank input screen
b) Very Slowly, turn the screen voltage up carefully for each CRT until you see arc lines of that color on the screen. Slowly back the voltage down until the arc line disappears. Do this for all three.
This should help with brightning up the picture if it is a voltage issue.
If the fluid is not the issue, then likely the flyback transformer is slowly failing and not providing enough voltage to the CRTs. Adjusting the screen voltage would help in this case.
