I have a Philips 60

As you look from the back the chips are on the board on the far left; black and each mounted side by side on metal plates with fins--this model should use 2 of the STK-392-120 CHIPS.

I buy mine on EBAY---select advanced search, search by seller---sewsales55 is the seller I use. This is Suburban Electronics in Maryland (they also have a online catalog) and a pair of the chips should cost under 15 dollars from them.

•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

I need to replace the divergence chips on my

With the back off look from the back to the far left side: two metal heat sinks side by side with fins---chips are bolted to them and will have either STK-392-120 OR -110 ON THEM. There are a few versions where it is one large heat sink on far right side as view from back.

Best place to get the chips: On EBAY select advanced search, then search by seller: sewsales55 is the one I buy from---a pair of the chips will cost less than 14 dollars.

The red and green colors

This set uses two of the STK-392-120 OR -110 CHIPS FOR THIS PROBLEM.

BOTH and any bad protect resistors will need to be replaced, total parts cost on EBAY under 25 dollars.

I can tell best way to get at them and do the repair--it involves soldering as each chip has 18 pins and is soldered in.

Chips (viewed from back of set) should be side by side on metal heat sinks with fins.

See attached photo of typical convergence problem.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Television picture looks like I need 3d glasses to

This set uses either two of the STK-392-120 IC Chips or a few use the STK-392-110---THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

Both chips are located on metal heat sinks with fins on the far left board (as you look from the back)

If in the customer menu red or blue will not move in some direction, both chips need to be replaced.

I would first suggest if you unplug the set and remove the back cover----look at all the small identical resistors to the left of the chip located near the front of the set--any that are white in the middle are gone and it means one of the chips got them.

Total parts cost on EBAY for 2 chips etc would be under 25 dollars and this could be a do it yourself repair depending on how much skill you have.

I can tell you how to get at the chips, and what is needed to do the repair.

I have repaired over 1,000 sets with this kind of problem and it is very common. The chips are mounted to the heat sinks to keep them cool and a white grease applied to the metal back of each chip is used to transfer heat to the metal---after some years the grease dries out and one of the chips goes.......

I need to know how

If you are adjusting in the customer menu you may wish to try it in the service/tech mode:

On the original remote:

0,6,2,5,9,7 Status

Try adjusting red first---at some point if you hit status two times it will bring you back into a menu of choices, at the bottom is "store these adjustments?" click on that and what you have adjusted will be saved and you can select Blue to green etc and continue.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T ADJUST GREEN!

If you just adjust and exit without saving the set will return to what it was before you started.

That thumping sound is the power source being forcefully closed by its own protection. Since the source starts ok then the faulty parts are outside of it. Only one thing can cause such a big crash - the high tension module (powering the CRT's) has failed. This is a massive failure, it must be handled by a pro and it will be expensive - over $300.

Philips HDTV wont turn on

If your model number is 60PP9202 you dont have a bulb, you have three CRT picture tubes instead, and if the power light doesnt come on check the fuse on the power board. Remove the rear cover after unplugging the cord and look at the small board on the irght where the power cord attaches you will see a fuse its most likely blown.

Screen is foggy and out

You may have one of two possible problems here. First..you may have a contaminated tube. This means one of the projection tubes may have fluid that has become cloudy and must be replaced with clean fluid. This would take a bit of patience to do so. It is not easy. The second problem may be that the small signal module may need replaced. Do not confuse this board with the small signal board, which is a tiny board that sits on top of the signal board and easily snaps in and out. You want to repair or replace the signalboard that is located on the floor next to the power supply board [has the flyback on it]. It is the board that contains all the RCA jacks and RF connections, that you are concerned about. Please check the first answer. You will have to disassemble a bit to look inside the projection tubes as they are lit. Thanks for asking!

I' attempting to connect my hd cable box to my hd

Please post the Brand/Model of you cable box and that of your TV so I can provide you with an answer that is more accurate than a guess.
The guess is, since we are talking about HD I will assume that your cable box has an HDMI connector and you have also an HDTV with HDMI connector somewhere in the back. In that case you will need an HDMI cable and that will connect both Audio and Video signal. Then you just set your input source selector on your HDTV to HDMI (if multiple select the number of the one where you connected the cable box), and you should be getting picture and sound.
Now, if your HDTV has no HDMI input then it will be very likely that you will have to use a Component cable that is ONLY for the "video" signal and looks like 3 RCA connectors color coded as Red, Blue, and Green. You will need to get and additional cable to feed the "audio" signal from the cable box to the HDTV using a stereo cable with RCA connectors which are usually color coded as RED and WHITE.
Note: This setup although better than nothing, is somewhat defying the purpose of having HD. The signal in Component connections are analog (although of better quality than Composite i.e. the old single video cable color coded as Yellow). The analog signal is limited by design and will get you only so far in your HD experience. The HD signal is digital and will yield the highest quality in both audio and video.
Assuming you are paying extra for channels that are HD then it would be worth it to do some more research or ask for help to one of your savviest friends so you can get the best gear and results with the least expense ;)
In all cases you should be able to see the programs and hear in stereo, your experience will vary as: - Your video signal may be a 480p instead of getting a higher 720p or 1080i. - your audio signal although some movies are available in 5.1 surround, not having a surround system will just give you the stereo sound from the TV.
Either way is your call how you want to experience your media... if you like to read more on the subject a quick start could be the TV glossary at crutchfield for instance:
