I would highly recommend you to go for selling it because as your not interested to use it as the primary TV..The replacement may or may not cost you higher than 150$ which can be decided based only on seeing the TV..But if you wish not to sell this for such a low price you can always go for replacement of screen my friend!..which can be found from http://www.olx.com/q/screen/c-366/p-4

John, You wrote that the power light is on. Is it blinking? A blinking light can be a service code that can be researched online and narrow down the issues.

Have you looked at the Green Picture tube to see if there is a convergence magnet that may have come off? Not sure if this model had them but it's worth looking into.

All you need is a free HDMI port. The Chromecast comes with a USB power adapter to plug into the wall, or if you have a free USB port on your TV you can use it. It works great, but there is a bit of a learning curve to understand how to connect it. I use my Windows 8.1 tablet and my Windows 7 notebook.

The crt fluid needs to be repalced carefully and correctly...This is why we created step byt step instructions for our kits on our website www.TvRepairKits.com . In msot cases if you cleaned up the spill before powering up the tv would be fine....but its not always easy to get all the spill off the board.....look around and see if you find any burnt parts....if so post a photo here....

I suspect you are asking about the convergence or brightness. See below for both common problems and fixesBelow are two of the most common problems encountered with projection TV sets. Problem #1 - CONVERGENCE PROBLEMProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on Projection TV sets and a fairly simple DIY fix.Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here are some photos of convergence problems.Here is a quick test....Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. You need to replace your convergence IC's. You also need to check the resisters in the convergence circuit to make sure they didn't go bad.

In some cases you will need the original remote to adjust convergence. Check that first. You can also find more detailed guides on www.TvRepairKits.com - there is a tips page with service mode codes, etc, also.

It uses 3 picture tubes and if even one is bad forget it, cost is around 400 each but this model has inside three lens for those tubes, clean the lens and see if improvement--lens cloth works fine for this.You can access them from rear of set with back cover removed.

Since the boards and most parts are not available for this model from Philips the only hope is to have a shop take a look, voltages and other checks MAY reveal what is wrong but I would not spend a ton of money on this set, was prone to a lot of problems and middle of the road as far as picture quality.

Follow cord inside and as seen from rear to the right where cord enters there are at least one and maybe two fuses.See if the fuses are good or bad.

A Philips with the high pitched whine or squeaky sound has a short usually on the deflection board (the middle board) which can be anything from a cap to the high voltage transformer.It indicates the set has a short and is in shutdown.

i DOUBT those are available and the blue is about the only one I have ever seen bad.What is the set not doing? ----may be able to help if I know.

Mine just did that. I know that mine has a bad bulb, I have ordered a new one and am hoping that fixes the problem.
