I own a 60PP9401 60 in. Rear projection tv. My red

This set has an advanced menu for adjusting the convergence and what may have happened is the shop adjusted it (It is done with an original Philips remote) and then not SAVED THE ADJUSTMENTS INTO THE SET'S MEMORY.

I can if you have the remote get into the menu and adjust and SAVE the adjustments. If the set is HD the convergence will have to be adjusted two times, once in regular and once in HD.

Let me know if you have questions.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems oulined below.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • No Audio/Video - TV Makes Chirping Sound

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Convergence problems i already used

you need to replace both chips this set uses; either STK-392-120 OR 110.

AS YOU LOOK FROM THE BACK THEY WILL BE AND IDENTICAL METAL HEAT SINKS WITH FINS TO THE FAR LEFT--NOTE NUMBER ON THE FRONT OF THEM.

TOTAL PARTS COST WOULD BE UNDER 20 DOLLARS AND I CAN STEP YOU THROUGH IT IF YOU WANT.

IF this information told you something you did not know, rate it as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Images are showing in 3D

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Has yellow and blue and numbers and words are double

You probably got a convergence issue. What that is is when the RGB is out of allignment witch causes one color to show more the an other or vice versa. You going to have to have a repair guy come out and look at it.

Thanks hope this helps. Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620

Looks uneven almost like 3d

The lenses might have moved out of line - with power off give a gentle tap to the side of lense suspected of this problem. (power off) then switch on if there are changes then you have found your problem.

good luck

You need to replace the two STK-392-120 convergence IC's and any of the 6.8 ohm protect resistors near the 3 plugs to the left and front of them. Then adjust the set in the TECH menu.

You can buy the 2 chips for less than 15 dollars plus shipping on Ebay--see Sewsales----Suburban Electronics--they have the best price and give a 6 month warranty.

I can if you need give you specific instructions on how to get at the chips and also the entry code for the advanced convergence alignment--if the set will not adjust in some way one or both of the chips are bad--the 6.8 ohm resistors are a light color--open or bad ones will be discolored in the middle--they can all be tested like checking a fuse with any ohm multimeter.

I do this here for free so if this helps, give me a vote here. If you need detailed instructions or have questions.

Convergence

This set is made by Hitachi and uses two STK392-110, Sanyo amps to control convergence. You have likely one amps that is shorted causing the problem, but it's HIGHLY recommended that you replace both amps. Also it uses 1.8 ohm 1w resistors, out in front of the amps, for the yoke return circuit and one or more of them may need to be replaced if they are beyond tolerance.
For this job you need a soldering station, VU meter with a ohms test, desoldering braid and a skill level of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Anything 5 or above would be a category of someone schooled in electronics.
If you need to find a tech in your area I suggest http://www.tvrepairpros.com/

Hope this helps!
