I have a YouTube video about this just search for Telescopeman on YouTube. However if you cannot move the scope up-down-left or right with the controls either the hand controller is defective or something is broken inside the scope. Possibly a worm gear is not engaging or is simply broken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv9BCpcF5mc

I have a Meade ETX 125 with the standard handheld

You really CANNOT see it tracking -- the movement is very slow. So visually it looks like it is not moving.

If the arrow keys work all is OK.

Hiya Steve here do you know of anyone who can

Yes, Dr. Clay supercharges ETX scopes--

http://www.arksky.org/supercharge.htm

You can also send them into Meade. Depends on how old it is and what is wrong if they will agree to repair it:

There are some big scope dealers in Europe that also provide this servive if they SELL Meade scopes. Call them.

On autostar I can move

The Azimuth clutch is slipping-- have you tightened the knob in the center of the base-- push the handle to the left. There is a tiny set screw on the side of the knob -- you can loosen it and remove the knob and position it further to the RIGHT on the bolt.

Optical alignment (centering).

Your ETX Maksutov scope cannot BE optically aligned. Only by Meade.

Do you mean aligning on two stars so the gotos work fine? We need more information and do not understand your question.

ETX gearbox is faulty

You slammed the scope into the "hard" stop and broke the gears-- you must start from the "home" position-- so read the manual. Sorry but you will need to send it into Meade for repairs.
