I have an older ETX
This is a known issue with the older ETX scopes. You can use silicon sealant or a small amount of hot glue -- and just put the mirror back on it's small platform.
However you might need to disassemble the rear of the scope to do this. See this web site for instructions on disassembly.

You may have Corrupted firmware in the hand controller- that's why they want you to do a RESET.
You might have to reload the correct firmware to fix this problem.
I believe if you hold down the ENTER KEY and the SCROLL DOWN arrow key and then turn on the scope you enter SAFE LOAD where you can reload the firmware.

DS-2000 (90) series with #497
There is a small spring inside that sometimes gets STRUCK DOWN-- this automatically turns off the internal batteries, as the scope things a separate 12volt power pack is plugged in.
Get an external 12 volt power pack and the correct 12 volt cable, and power it up.
If the light comes on and it works the switch is broken. Not really a problem as you should always run a goto scope on a separate power pack.

Need corrector plate retaining ring gasket
These parts are only available from Meade, or if you find an old scope on astromart.com that is being torn apart and sold as parts. You might find a replacement gasket at a well stocked hardware store--- maybe?

On a meade ETX 90RA Premier edition
Contact Meade and see what they charge to CLEAN the telescope:
http://www.meade.com/support/index.html
I seem to remember it was about $100 plus shipping. The 80 is a completely different telescope style-- the 90mm is a Maksutov Telescope.

How to set up a Meade telescope, model 293
Meade has all of their manuals on this web site:
http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html
You never said what is the NAME of the scope. Anyway find your telescope on this page and download a free manual.
The LARGER the number written on the eyepieces the LOWER the magnification. Start out with the eyepiece with the largest number written on it and practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

A fellow by the name of Ron Sampson can repair hand controllers and main boards on Meade telescopes. He does very good work. All you need to send him are the board(s).
You can contact him by posting a message on the Yahoo LX90 or LX200 group forums.
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/lx90/
Good luck-- by the way he repaired the hand controller for our astronomy clubs 10 inch Meade LX200, at a very reasonable cost.

Cant see anything
You never said what brand of telescope you have or what type.
Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time. The moon should be your first target at night.

Hi.
I am answering because I see that the problem is still unsolved.
I think that the best thing to do is contacting Meade, so that they can tell you if it is the case to replace the pcb, or if it is just a setting problem.

I need eyes pieces by meade 60AZ-D
This is a very small 60mm refractor, not much bigger than a pair of 10x50mm binoculars. Personally I would not spend any money on this; but would save up to buy a 6 inch or 8 in Dobsonian reflector scope like this one:
http://www.telescope.com/control/dobsonians/classic-dobsonian-telescopes
However read my TIP on my profile page about buying Accessories for a telescope. There are several links there where you can buy the .965 size eyepiece for your scope.

Wiring to the Meade LX-50
I have never seen a scematic published on the internet for the old Magellen hand controller. However there is a fellow that repairs LX200 and LX90 hand controllers who probably does have a schematic.
Go to the LX90 or LX200 Yahoo Group, sign up and post a message asking for help from Ron Sampson. You can send him the controller and it's VERY likely that he can repair it a nominal cost.
Hope that helps you-- by the way he repaired our Astronomy club's old LX200 Classic hand controller which had burned out circuits, and can even repair the keyboards and the screen.
