Philips DVD750VR DVD Player/VCR Questions & Answers
Phili[s dvd3480 has stopped recording when
That last part is the actual finalizing - the writing of the track end data. That data is identical for all the disks and it should be copied from the data stored in the firmware.
If the finalizing fails it's because the firmware has been corrupted. This happened because there has been a fault in the processor of the recorder. All you can do is to do a firmware upgrade. You can find it here, with the instructions

I have a Phillips combo
Most likely the mode switch in the VCR has either gone high resistance, and will need to be replaced, or it is probably dirty, thus it can be cleaned using electronic cleaner (assuming the mode switch is a rotary type encapsulated in a plastic casing (some VCRs incorporated a sliding mode switch - such as National in the early 1980s) - a spray cleaner/lubricant may do the job - not expensive - this cleaner should be available from most leading electronics/hobby stores off the shelf).
The downside is the cleaning of the switch (which should be under the VCR mechanism and soldered to the motherboard) cannot guarantee long-term reliability, so the switch will have to be replaced (this could be tricky being Philips/Magnavox) - but try cleaning it first - this is cheaper and you don't go without a unit for a long time. I hope there are no tapes stuck inside the unit.
In this case, I strongly recommend that you try and clean the mode switch with electronic switch cleaner - it comes in an aerosol spray can and is not expensive. You may need to look around for the appropriate type of cleaner as there is more than one available. CRC is the best bet according to technicians. CRC is a spray electronic cleaner/lubricant - so it will also lubricate the switch contacts as well as clean and remove oxides. Do not use supermarket sprays such as WD-40, or automotive sprays such as ArmorAll.
I do not recommend removal and disassembly of the switch itself to clean it unless you are tech. savvy with several years' experience, and you have some understanding of its alignment in relation to the mechanism. If you are careful, and with the unit unplugged from the wall, you can remove the VCR deck to gain access to the switch on the board and carefully apply the abovementioned cleaner, rotating the switch in both directions gently, to work the cleaner into its contacts. Let it sit for a few minutes, then re-fit the VCR deck, and reassemble the rest of the unit. Plug into power, and test a tape. This simple method should work (you won't need to remove the motherboard to do this, just the front panel and VCR deck) and it only cost you a can or two of contact cleaner at most.
You should not need a new unit.
How do I connect my philips dvd750vr dvd player to
Hello,
it all depends on the cord that you want to use. There are different cords that can be used to connect Tv to your player.
But I would recommend RCA cord. RCA cord is a Yellow, white and red wires. The yellow stands for video, while the white and red stands for audio left and right.
Look at the back of your TV, connect the yellow part of the cord to Video IN, the connect the red and white to Audio IN respectively.
Now, connect the other end of the wires to the player in the format; Connect the yellow to video Out, the connect the red and white to audio Out, respectively.
Turn on your TV and Player. Press source or AV on the TV remote and a display of the DVD will appear on the screewn of your TV.
That would be all.
If you still have difficulty in connecting, please let me know so that I can help further.
Yours sincerely.

It plays CDs, but not DVDs even after the laser
Time to get a new one, probably. The laser for DVDs is different for CDs so the DVD laser or a component in that section has probably failed and at today's prices, get a new player with morre features for less than you paid for this one. You can keep it for CD playing. The fact that it plays CDs means most of the player works except the DVD laser circuit. You might look at the lasers with a magnafying glass (Unplug for 1 hour before that look) to see if you can see the 2 laser lenses and one is dirty. Not very likely fixable but it is a free try. Good luck.

I've changed my batteries but my remote still doesn't work.
it means your remote is not defective in batterynya only. you must open the remote case and you will see a small part of yellow color is called Crystal Filter oscilator, this part should be replaced. if the result is the same as before you should also replace the remote sensor LED
