Disc error "playback feature may not be available on this disc"

Hello arnita2211,

This error message is due to an improper format, that your dvd player can't handle. To correct this you need to use a program such as nero and in nero is a program called nero vision, that will recode the movie file into a dvd playable format.

You can download a trial of nero here
http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero9-trial.php
You will have to purchase a license when the trial ends. Sorry we cannot give you a serial key for this as it is Illegal.

Thank you for trying Fixya!

How do I finalize a cd?

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in finalizing the CD. Please let me know the model # of the CD Recorder that you're using so that I can provide the specific steps to finalize the CD. If you're trying to playback an unfinalized CD which needs finalizing, you may have to use the same recorder. Please get back to me with more details. Thanks for using FixYa.

I need the code for

Hello
Setup codes for Magnavox DVD/VCR are:
0456
[0914 0286] [0969 0286]
Where the code is listed as [### ###] the first is for the DVD and the second is for the VCR. Otherwise just the one code operates both the DVD and the VCR.
Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.
OK.

VHS to DVD Dubbing Problem

I have the same problem. I saw a solution that said I needed to set my cable to a non-premium channel like NBC, ABC, PBS, CSPAN in order to allow the dubbing to occur without the +VR problem. At first, I thought it was a stupid solution; but guess what, It worked. I just set my cable box to from HBO to CSPAN,restarted the dubbing from VCR to DVD and it worked. Now the question is: Why do I have to change the channel when I'm dubbing from VCR to DVD?
This worked for me..still trying to figure out why it worked???

Philips dvp3055 combi dvd/vcr that has ared key on the front

I have all of your answers:
The easiest method, if you have the original remote control for that unit, is to press the "Child Lock" button that is toward the bottom of your remote.

If you don't have the original remote, the universal reset code is:
210499 - you may have to enter it twice

The manual with the most difficult method is here:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvp3055v_01/dvp3055v_01_dfu_eng.pdf

Have fun!

Remote Code

Sorry but a code you want doesn't exist.

You have to have a specific remote from Magnavox or a remote that falls roughly in this line of models. The best you can get out of universal is the On/Off commands.

Zva457mg9A has tv tuner

If you mean the DirectTV satellite system, the tuner in the Magnavox ZV457MG9A will not work. That tuner is for OTA (ATSC and NTSC) and CATV channels. You must connect the Composite A/V Line Out from the receiver to the Line In (front or back) of the recorder. Then, you need to select L1 or L2 (Line In, as needed) by pressing the Source button (at the top of the remote to the left of the Open/Close DVD button). If you are recording immediately, do this after setting the Record mode. Then press Rec if you want to record immediately. Set the receiver to the channel that you will want to record before setting the recording. Leave the unit on that channel and do not turn it off before the recording time. If you are doing a timed record, set the source after setting the time with the up/down/right/left arrows and then press the right arrow to continue setting the timed recording. If you mean OTA, make sure that you are correctly choosing Digital channels with the DTV/TV button unless you have analog channels still broadcasting in your area. Also check if the antenna signal is strong enough to be seen by the tuner. The digital signal is either enough to be tuned in or you get "no signal". If you split the signal to record and watch different programs, you may reduce the signal below that needed by the tuner. (Different tuners have varying sensitivities. So the TV might still get enough signal when the recorder doesn't.) Amplified splitters can resolve this but when they fail give more problems. The manual for the is available from Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/27010/MAGNAVOX-DVD-VCR-Combo-L0908672 . All recordings are in SD.I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
