I had Webroot Spysweeper installed on my Sony Vaio. I received a message from it saying that it had detected and quarantined a trojan virus and that I needed to restart my computer. When I did, the Vaio screen came up for a second, then I got a "Spysweeper early remover, Missing: device\harddisk volume 1\windows\" error message and then a "lsass.exe - bad image" message. When I cliked out of that, the screen went black and all I got was cursor. No Windows startup screen at all. I called webroot tech help (who, by the way, doesn't even have weekend hours), who denied it had anything to do with their product (untrue - as I have seen others on this website alone who have complained about probs). Took it to two places, no one has been able to fix. Any ideas?
fck this happens on vista too, i installed webroot parental control and spy sweeper and after i restarted, i lost all acess and i can never log on to the admin account
webroot sucks *** not worth a penny, even a Japanese penny if they have any... but anyways, unless they are paying your like 600 dollars, dont install it or buy it, it sucks

I went to go remove it but it says cannot find webrootunins000.exe! need help I went in search menu for it but it cannot be found, went in add remove programs but wont work? any ideas?

Please will you tell me how to remove the toolbar from Firefox?
Working through Firefox/Tools/Add-ons/Unistall has had no effect.
Will I have to unistall and reinstall Webroot's Spy Sweeper but without checking the Ask search toolbar option - or is there a way it can be done without uninstall/reinstall?
I welcome any help/advice you can offer
If Firefox's tools/options won't remove it, then you'll have to do the uninstall of the Spy Sweeper. The only other way, is if the Ask search bar is showing in your add/remove programs list.

find what version of SpySweeper you are using, open the software and
click on HELP and then ABOUT. It should show you the version...

I beleve this pertains to spy sweeper file i am trying to remove(uninstall)
Use Norton-Cleensweep to uninstall.

I cannot uninstall Spy Sweeper completely. I tried through add/remove programs, and the uninstall utility on the software. Most of the program has uninstalled but not all of it.
Go to Start/Run and enter regedit hit the Enter key.
Go to:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Webroot
Delete the webroot folder.

when I try to uninstall this program it says that an uninstall file is missing. C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\unins000.dat i can not uninstall through windows or the webroot spy sweeper program. any ideas what I can do??????????

most effective way to uninstall Spy Sweeper is to go to Control Panel and then select Add and Remove Programs. In this case, you may try to follow the instructions below.
1.right click on the Spy Sweeper icon on the right hand side of the toolbar where the clock is located and select exit
2. press ctrl + alt + delete which will open the Task Manager.
3. Click on the Processes tab. Search for spysweeper.exe. If this process is running click on it then select end process.
Repeat this step to search for and close the process WRSSSDK.exe. After this is done Spy Sweeper should be able to be removed by using Add/Remove Programs

I recently bought Webroot Spy Sweeper and Anti-Virus. It's working great except for the backup. A pop up box pops up on my screen and asks me for my password. It has my User Name in the box but not the password. I know my password is correct because you guys have emailed it to me many times. What do I do??? I would like a backup but it won't let me log in! It keeps saying that the password is not correct but it is. Please Help!

I have a subscription with McAfee total protection and cannot download
the software before this webroot spy sweeper is removed.I cannot find
this program on my computer and never had a subscription on it.
How can this be removed?
This worked for me. Search the registry for webroot (start->run->type 'regedit'); in regedit, find 'webroot'. Delete the folder that has webroot (it has sub-folder 'spy sweeper'). McAfee should finish installing.
