Your over voltage circuits(hi-voltage and low voltage) are defective.When the voltage exceeds the specs it shuts off the tv.Unless your a service tech,you can't fix this.There are components on the main circuit tha t have to be changed.Sorry, no easy fix.

You have built-in features that correspond between the TV and The Hand held controller designed by Emerson. Universal remotes are lacking some features that are necessary for full function of the TB. In your case, you may be required to replace the hand held unit with another exactly alike and with all of the functions you are accustomed to.

Try doing the auto scan first to get all the possible channels.. Usually the Add/Delete function applies once the TV knows what channels are out there to add or delete.

I would just replace the TV unless you have the skill and tools required to fix the problem with the old one.

turn on the machine. use your figure push on the cassette, when you feel the cassette can't go any farther (don't jam it),and hold it there. press the eject button, you may have to try this couple of times in order for the cassette to come out.
the cassette deck need to have the drive belt change.

(Which is the procedure provided on the first link) Press and hold the clear TV button at the top left hand side of your remote for 5 seconds (all the other clear buttons will light up) once this happens enter the code followed by the # button on your remote, the clear TV button at the top will light up 3 times, this means the remote has been programmed. Disconnect the VCR and leave the TV on and see whether the TV gets off. If it gets off, the timer in the TV is the one that has to be reset. I do not think there is any way a TV can be switched off by a VCR, unless the power supply is controlled by VCR.

If your other TVs work on the same antenna, and only this Emerson doesn't work with it, eiter your TVs tuner inside, or it tuning has some trouble. Check by put the set to autotune refering to its user manual. Check whether the cable socket is tight or not.
If these are correct, replace its tuner, [it is inside the circuit board], with same type and number. OK.

You may find a bad capacitor near the powerline regulator. This powerline regulator will have an STR-XXXX number. And if that is not enough, you will surely have two or three resistors that have changed values. These combonation TVs are very, very difficult to keep operating. You may have a service person repair this....and then in a month the TV will act up again. This is good advice. You decide what to do next. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.
