You don't need any software in order to use your camera. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct your problem. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:And here's a video summary of the steps:

You should be able to find xD cards at any electronics or office-supply store. Since you didn't tell us where you are, I'm afraid I can't tell you the nearest store.
I can't find mention of a maximum storage capacity for memory cards for this camera but, given that it only has a 16mb card provided then it is highly unlikely that a 2 GB card will work. I have had this problem with a Nikon camera - tried using a 4GB card when it could only handle a max of 2GB. But don't throw away the 2Gb - it might come in handy if you decide to upgrade to a digital SLR at some stage. If you do that make sure you know what cards it will take.
Hi,
If you go into the menu on the camera there should be an option to erase the memory card fully as well as format the memory card. Both of those options will wipe all photos off of the memory, hope this helps =)
Okay the camera is asking you to format/initialize the card you need to go into your Set-Up menu here is a screen shot not sure how well this is going to look it's a pretty large file and FixYa only allows for a specific files size anyway her goes. Diagram
Now the function that you need to perform is explained here in this screen shot Diagram
That's a much better shot and it shows and tells you were to go (politely) to format your card make sure you have downloaded your pictures to a computer before doing this. By the way you should be performing this function every time you download pictures to teh computer. Format teh card in the camera There you go have fun
You know I wish the manufacturers would put one of these card readers in the box because they are the quickest, least hassle and best way to get pictures from the camera
to the computer A memory card reader is relatively inexpensive and connect to the USB port of your computer.
When the memory card is installed the computer see it as an external
Hard Drive and the files can be opened copied and pasted in a new folder
in your "My Documents" on your computer. most of these point and shoot cameras have so elaborate menus to transfer your files to a computer you need to get the manual out each time you do it. With a memory card reader it's pretty well plug it in and away you go
Hi vicki. The camera probably only displays the pictures in internal memory when there is no extra memory card in place, so you will be able to see them if you take it out and then switch the camera into its review mode. Hope this helps
1) Connect the card to a computer (using the camera itself or a USB card-reader).
2) Format the card through the operation system. Make sure the file system selected is FAT32.
3) Try filling the card with files/information - of any kind...
It's done in order to check that the card is functioning correctly. If succeded - format again and try it once again with your camera; If not - your card if probably damaged. In that case, use another memory card (and make sure it's supportd by your camera model).
