Need help on programing my 20 channel 10 band scanning radio

Here's a link to get the Uniden owner's manual... Look for the grey box in the upper right corner.. this will get you up and running ... You may also want to do a google.com search for " radio frequencies" and " your state here".. that will help you find the local radio freq's.

Here' s the link to the manual

Want to convert analog police scanner into digital

Some scanners are capable of digital (APCO25). The BC248 however is not. You'll have to buy newer equipment.

Uniden/bearcat BC-100

If it's indeed a BC-100 and not a BC-100xlt, the 16 channels are easy to program and use.
1. Press MANUAL 3 MANUAL with 3 being the number of the channel you wish to program.
2. Enter the frequency for that channel (e.g., 162.55) followed by ENTER.
3. Follow the same sequence for each channel you wish to program, except that pressing MANUAL after you program a channel will advance the scanner to the next channel.

To scan, simply press the SCAN button after your frequencies are programmed.

Scanner

Hello bettyduke, here is the manual for your radio, the info you need is on pg. 11 and 12.
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC248CLTom.pdf

Guest, I have looked and I didn't find a manual to download for free but the programming should be fairly simple. On my 248 I just manually go to whatever channel I want to program, then punch in the freq. # including the decimal point. Then push a button that says E or enter and wa-laa it's in the memory.

Here is a list of freq's for whatever state and county you live in,,,

How do I get BC144XL channels into the scanner

Ok answers to both of you questions. First, in order to get you booklet go to:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/2056189/UBC144XLT

I found your booklet right there in black and white. The programming instructions are on page 11 of the viewer and page 9 in the manual itself.

Here is how to program a channel.
1. hit manual to stop the unit from scanning.
2. Input the Channel # you want to program.
3. Press manual again to go directly to that channel.
4. press the frequency you want on that channel, remember the decimal point.
5. Press "E" to save or "Enter" the frequency.
6. Lastly assure that this channel is not "Locked Out" by seeing that the L/O is not illuminated on the display when you are on this channel.

Hope this helps,

BC 2488CLT SCANNER

You may have lost all the programming, so go to manual mode & verify that all your channels have frequencies programmed into them.Another possibility is that all the banks are locked out, you should see the numbers 1 to 10 at the top of the display; if you don't, press 'scan', then press each key until all missing number reappear.

Internal problem, can be repaired by a tech familiar with Bearcat scanners, but probably not worth the cost. If you're near NJ, call 973-831-5900.
