A letter p is poping up in front of one of my channels as its scanning why
The letter P is for Priority. The channel with the letter P is set for Priority. When the scanner is operating, anytime a signal goes to that channel it will automatically switch to it and you will hear the transmission. If you have the user manual you can see how to set it. You can usually find a copy of the manual on line, or google for instructions.
I have a bc60xlt andno matter how i turn the squelch i get the same hiss what happened
The Bearcat Scanner is neat hand held scanner, Is the scanner programed? Depress the WX for weather and see if the weather channel is available. The squelch knob should be turned clockwise and the noise level should decrease (actually you are decreasing the allowable signals to be received). If you get no response from a know frequency, then the squelch pot may need cleaning or replacement may be in order.....Cost for repair at service shop may not be feasible.
Cannot receive weather channel information
Antenna connected? Station off air due to bad weather? Is the 'squelch' set to you hear static, then turn it back just to where it stops hissing? Try that and let me know.
