Missing main power button for sony STR-DE925
If there is no other issue than the fact that the power switch button which is the customer control knob, you must try and source a similar type or getone from a scrapped set which might not be a big issue. Check with repair centers where you can find luck.
My STR-DE925's display has gone
So it's dead in other words.
Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.
After turning on my receiver
You'll want to stop doing that until the root cause is found. Pops can kill speakers. Take it to a service tech or crack it open and try to find the cause yourself. Resolving it (if parts are involved) may be a whole 'nuther issue. Could be just a loose conenction or bad solder joint that's affected by vibration or warming up.
Hi my name is Fabrice

Cannot make any selections on my receiver.
Is the phono button stuck. It may be leaky. Remove the phono swoitch from the circuit. There are lines from the switches that go to the micro. there should be 5 volts or son on these lines. Look at the connector on the front panel. Find line marked phono. After removing the phono switch does the is the vovtage there, If not somthing is pulling that line down. Trace ir back to the micro. There should be a resistor and capacitor attached to that line and to ground. remove the capacitor. If the voltage returns then that cap is bad. If not the mocro is bad. If you are able to tackle this let me know and I can give you more details.
Sony STR-DE925 auto-decode has worked fine for
OK, so with more troubleshooting, I was able to eliminate the problem with my DE925. It was actually the Vizio HDTV that was causing the problem, as I decided to route the optical audio from my DVD and PS3 directly to the same TOSLINK port on the DE925 and auto-decode worked. It was not the fiber-op cables either. This HDTV was a less-expensive 720p 32" model anyway, so I am not too concerned with the optical out working on it as I can run up to four TOSLINK connections in to the receiver.
I NEED THE POWER BUTTON
Many of the sony receivers the power button isn't sold as a part the front panel must be replaced. The power button is possibly inside and can be reattached.
I've seen where bad solder connections near or on the switch to work intermittently, but if you push hard it will work but when you push too hard it breaks.
'protect' blinked and then no sound or display
Disconnect the outside speakers "at the speakers" then turn back on. If the problem persists, disconnect the speakers at the back of the receiver and try again. If the problem stops "at the receiver" check your terminals and make sure no braids are touching each other. If the problem stops when you disconnect at the speaker, chances are good it's a bad voice coil from moisture. Most "outdoor" speakers with a brand name on them have a pretty good warranty. Good speakers have a 10 year warranty and the manufacturer will replace. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I can help you some more
