That means you don't have a good DIgital INput (get it?) signal or bitstream. Correct the source's playback or connection.

The message in the manual implies there was vibration during the process. Isolate this unit form any air- or surface-borne vibrations and speakers while recording.

Complex? Traditional turntables need PHONO preamaplifiers (in receivers) to PREAMPLIFY the minute signal they produce to something useable.
"PHONO" is the only designated connection on a receiver that is literal and exclusive. Nothing but PHONO will work right on it and old-school turntables would require it to preamplify the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge.
Just curious, priorto the arrival of the RCD, how did you play or listen to the turntable?

Hi, the definiton in the manual suggests you are trying to record a digital bitstream that is either dead or incompatible with the recorder. Go analog.
What happens if you skip the receiver? Be advised that anything coming in digitally through a cable/satellite box may be muliti-channel and convertible by the player to its native 44.1 khz sampling rate.
Which means incorrect sample rate is coming over the digital input you have selected.

Listening of scarping noise will help me to understand what could be wrong in recorder.
