Don't run anything but a TURNTABLE through Phono. That's the only labeled input that's literal. Use any other Line Level input for the CD.

If you don't have anything connected to the Tape loop, use the Tape In connectors.

If the player "skips" after 15+ seconds the likely problem is the split rack&pinion used to position the laser. The split rack is sprung to remove play or backlash when meshing with the driver cog. This split rack can jump cogs over time, eventually becoming ineffective. The solution is to remove the laser assembly and gently disengage the driver cog, compress the split rack and re-engage the driver cog. This should solve the skipping problem.

If you have turned it back on then this would indicate the receiving module that picks up the infrared signal is not working and has become defective, but I would double check your manual so nothing was over looked.

Hi, the error is because the cd changer is not turning, something block it! or ther is an audio cd inside that blocks the normal function or change the "rubber belt" that the motor drives for the disc system changer!, an other problem could be that is not reading the audio cd's.

There are a number of possible reasons for this. First a little more info is needed:

1) Do all CDs play OK, just not randomly?

2) Are there any other symptoms( for example, a CD not playing all the way through)?

3) Did this just start one day or has this happened off and on over a period of time until the problem remains consistant?

i just repaired one last week that had bad connections where you plug the rca plugs -red-and white into the unit ,, jiggle those plugs and see if that is the problem if so they will need to be soldered

Usually it happens when optical lens got dusty in CDP-CX355 cd player as optical block could not read out disc data and spindle motor spins too fast due to error signal thus optical lens gives up and system control moves to next disc and release loaded disc while disc is still spinning fast and resulted throw in turntable that holds all discs.
Put lens cleaning cd in player to clean disc that will most likely solve the issue and if that does not help out, clean lens with good quality cotton swab gently.

Have to remove the top cover and carefully
remove all the cd's without scratching them!
Should operate normally after that!

In order for an entire CD to play, the optics assembly must travel toward the exterior of the disk. From your description, something is preventing this from happening and the CD player is continuing to play in a restricted area. If the model is CDP-CD355, the optics assembly is on its side. This unit needs service and should not be opened by a homeowner. This is not a unit I would recommend for a DIY repair. This repair is not likely to require parts, but could. It may only need a cleaning and re-lube of the sled rail assembly.

Try cleaning the optical pickup, if it doesn't work you'll need to replace the pickup.
