Got power but no sound
a number of things can cause this from bad
audio IC amps. to diodes and caps.
even cold solder joints.
maybe this will help some.
St-s211 no stereo
first read the instructions they contain some amazing information. I can not help you because I have no idea of what you want to know.
Wires connect stereo
Assuming that your TV has a headphone socket, the easiest way is to connect a lead from the headphone socket on your TV to a spare line (or auxiliary) input on the Sony amp. You will need a 3.5mm stereo plug to twin RCA plug cable, long enough to reach both pieces of equipment. Most electrical stores should have a suitable cable available at modest cost :o)
Playing it loud for about 20 minutes it suddenly
Hi, even though the mains fuse on back of amplifier is fine, the speaker fuses might have blown.
Now really you need to take it to get repaired but if you know someone who has electronics knowledge they could look inside the amplifier to check the speaker output fuses.
I wouldn't want to advise you to do it as there are dangerouse voltages inside the amplifier.
If you need more help, I will guide you.

Wires connect stereo speaker
It all depends what connections you have on the back of your TV? You should look to see if there are two red and white audio "out" sockets. Don't try to connect via audio "in". If you have an HDMI connection on both TV and amp that will also do the trick. Also SCART sockets have audio out connections. You can get adapter leads to connect it all up.
Need connecting wiring for sony am/fm jx 285 connecting to the sony stereo amp ta-ax 285
If you are trying to connect a ribbon cable tuner to a conventional RCA input terminal amplifier, it won't work because the ribbon cable carries the signal output as well as the data for frequency synthesis which is determined by the processor located in the amplifier ( that is supposed to work with that type of tuner), and the data buss for the buttons on the front of the tuner. For the time and effort to put into a workaround, it is cheaper by far to get a tuner that will work with your amp. If cosmetics are not an issue, brand of tuner will not matter as their outputs are "Line Level" or nominally 1 volt peak to peak..
I have a sony ta-fe370 amplifier. I bought it 5
The problem is hard to track down, but fixable. You need to determine if the pre-amp has failed or the power amp. To determine which try this: Connect a device which plays music and turn the volume control fully up! You can sometimes hear the sound better via a pair of headphones. If you can hear any signal or music breaking through, then the pre-amp section is OK. If you can't it might not be. If you can hear faint music then it will be the main power amp to blame. Now because you have lost both channels you must only investigate devices (such as IC's) which have both channels running to them. Some amps have one big power amp IC that does the work. So if that goes it takes the sound with it. Have a look at whatever is on the big heat sink first, that will determine a lot of your future actions.
The power is going into the ampifier but no sound
Have a look inside. Look at what is on the heat-sink. If it is a single IC like the one shown below, it most likely has failed. If there are several transistors on the sink, then it's unlikely they have all gone. So you would be looking at something that is common to both channels. Or something in the power supply.
