Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60WF655 60" Rear Projection HDTV - Page 9 Questions & Answers
DEVOLPING YELLOW LINE ON SCREEN
The yellowing of Sony’s KDF-60WF655 rear projection is a problem with the SXRD optical engine. This turned out to be a big problem on many of the SXRD TV's. Sony actually had a class action lawsuit that covered the optical engine for 5 years. My unit was replaced in June of last year (2009) about 1 month before the coverage ended. My unit had a bad yellow streak on the right hand side. Sony no longer covers the cost of replacement, as the class action suit has now expired. Sorry for the bad news. Its not clear if a new optical engine will suffer the same fate after a few years. Sony’s rear projection TV's are amazing and the picture rivals many of today’s LCD's and Plasma's. Any authorized Sony Tv repair shop will no exactly your problem and will be able to give you a fixed price to repair.
Hope this helps
The screen is turning light blue along the edges
Sorry, but its wearing out so soon,,, I have a similar one that turned green in the right top corner which was temp solved by not having all my accessories that were plugged in turned on at the same time,,, but after a few months the green became permit and the tv stopped functioning. Hope a solution comes your way, but to start looking for a new one as repairs are = and or more than a new television. Good Luck Rkaler24

My sony grand wega picture and audio keep going
Hi,Is yoyr tv close to 6000-8000 hrs 2-4 yrs.If its it might be time to replace the lamp.Your part # is XL2200 Make sure you get the Philips lamp. There's other components that tend to go bad like the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. When that is bad it will make continuous clicking noises or attempts to light up the lamp. But if you dont hear any of that then most likely its just the lamp that needs to be replaced.Have a blessed one!
I have a sony grand Wega KDF-kdf50e2000 and when
If this is the model I am thinking of, Sony has a recall on the light engine. They are going bad in many of the Grand Wegas. Call them up and they should offer a new tv. You can either get a BRAND NEW lcd tv for free, but it is going to be smaller than your current one. Or you can get a different size for a reduced price. Late last year (november 2009) my grandma saw a red band at the top of the display. We called up Sony and we got a BRAND NEW 46" 120hz Sony Bravia for about $250 if I remember correctly. And since it is a new tv, you get a new warrenty. You also get to keep your current grand wega because they simply don't want them. I stongly recommend calling them up because this will give you a new tv. Spread the word.

In most cases, your set has an open Thermal Fuse. I don't have a parts list handy, otherwise I would give it to you for reference as you shop for it.
It's not labor intensive at all to do. In fact, it's pretty straight forward as, if my clouded mind can recall, the thermal fuse in this set sits directly next to the light engine and right under the lamp housing.
You could do some research at partstore.com or a similar site for your set's model # and the keyword of "thermal fuse."
However, once that thermal fuse goes in, you should be back up and running.
You will also want to check all fans in the set while you're there to make sure you don't have any clogged fans. Clogged fans can cause the set to overheat, and scenarios that involve overheating can lead to thermal fuses blowing again and again.
Best of luck.
