Sony Grand WEGA KDF-42WE655 42" Rear Projection HDTV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Sony KDF-E50A10 Shuts off and on every 1- 2 mintues
From what it seems in your question... the problem has already went away... However, I actually know about this. There is a fuse inside the tv near the power button called B-3a... If you replace that fuse it should help fix permanently
I have a sony wega KDF42WE655 TV(42 inch). It has
There is a separate IC on the main board that does nothing but process the HDMI signal, basically if your using the cable, AVI or any other input other than HDMI and chances are that is bad, it can be replaced if you have a lot of electronic experience, its a $3 chip but its not easy to replace..I would replace the main board if you can find one, sometimes main boards are hard to find..below is a link to the service manual.

Blinking protect
These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Does it have a USB port to connect a Ruko stick? If not, how can I connect it?
The KDF-42WE655 does not have a USB port. The current Roku sticks plug into the HDMI port on the TV. You will need to use the power adapter that came with the unit. Plug the USB cord (mini or micro USB) into the back (or side) of the Roku Stick and then plug the power adapter into a nearby power outlet. (It's a 5V 1A DC power adapter.) Roku sells this adapter separately on their Accessories page:
https://www.roku.com/accessories . It's ~$10. If you have mounted your TV such that the power outlet is hidden behind the TV, you'll get to the outlet or use another nearby outlet. (Make sure to avoid a tripping hazard if you use an extension cord or power strip to increase the number of available outlets.)
I hope this helps.

Why television pixels keep breaking up
could be a number of things-lens film/cover "cloudy", lamp dimming, defective optical block, etc - this tv is garbage! we finally threw ours out for garbage - two lamps exploded at $100-300 - replaced the optical block twice-garbage is all I can say - I expect to buy a tv at 4K that would last many years without distortion to our eyes, the expense of it all and total inconvenience-dealing with warranty bs etc - never owned a tv that was so much trouble!
My Sony DLP has WHITE DOTS all over the screen,
I have a lcd tv that has a few black dots but it may be from a similar cause. During a move the screen was rubbed against i was wiping the screen later and picked a small piece of plastic off the screen. The moral is... the screens are sensitive to the touch and you should be carefull how you clean it. When i bought my tv i also bought a spray of deionized water. There must be reasons behind why we can't use windex or other chemicals on a screen these days.
So where is the optic block and how do i get o9ne/replace one?
Hello the optical block is located at the center bottom of the set. It is a multi-step process to change it,and there is a video on youtube that explains it, but with the age of the set and the expense of the part whether it is a feasible repair. here is a photo of the location and the part itself. The part number is A1084658A-R and the cheapest place I have found it is through Tri State Modules, but I have never used one of their rebuilt optical blocks....thanks
After replacimg bulb tv still flashing red
we bought our Sony Wega in 2006 - we changed the bulb twice both times they exploded; we threw this tv out one month ago - sorry but its literally GARBAGE! within the first year the optical block went, then the replacement under my extended warranty that optical block was defective-within a month all the purple hues started showing up again - warranty over - never will I purchase a 4,000 tv nor any sony products ever again! the only good product I ever liked of sony was the Walkman!
How to change to screen size on control what button
Hello, on the Sony remote in the darker gray area is the "wide" button (second row, second button), press it until your set is in the "full" mode. If your screen is still not filled out, it may be the cable box or satellite receiver that needs to be set. With the tv in "full" mode, then set your cable box or satellite receiver to the proper screen setting by using the "format" button on your cable box or satellite receiver remote.
Wheres the fan on a sony kf 200 u tv
there are several fans on this unit, but the one that seems to give most problem is the one right behind the LAMP. these usually fail because of the heat, age & the accumulation of dust. BE SURE TO VACUUM ALL THE DUST FROM UNIT in order for it to run cooler. Dust causes HEAT..HEAT DESTROYS ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS.
Sony su 50sx red light flashing 7 times
This may be your lamp fan not spinning. Sometimes you can get it to operate temporarily by cleaning the dust from it & spin the blade by hand to get it started
My sony wega 50" only has one HDMI and it is plugged into the HD cable box. I need another one for the bluray DVD player
