It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

The hdmi no is working
HDMI is a little trickier than most think. The signal has to be matched from the source to the TV. This is a little dumb but try this first. power down everything connect the cables (HDMI) and then power everything up at the same time. If it does not recognize the signal at this point I would look into a device to do the signal conversion. The product I use for this is from Key Digital.
Toshiba 42dpc85 won't turn on, red light blinking continuously
How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy.

Solid green light but no picture
I think this is a projection set. Sonys are called SXRD type lcd projection . Little diff from DLP types. But they do have a lamp. Unplug set plug back in then turn on . Count blink code. Check lamp also. blink code is 2 digit code. Code will give clue to failure.
Only red and blue on screen
Bad cable, replace it. If the cable is proven to be good then it is bad at the source (cable box) or the tv video card is bad. Eliminate backwards to find out. Plug the tv in with a new cable and if that does not fix it then plug something else into the tv such as a dvd player and see if the problem still exists. If it does then it is the TV itself. Message back if you get that far without results.
Tv will not power up although power light comes on then turns red
Does the light blink or is solid red? If not I would first remove the lamp and examine it to see it is not shattered or damaged inside.Lamp can look ok and be bad--about only sign is sometimes just before it fails the picture will take longer to come up or is darker.Lamp life averages 2000 hours or 2 years---less if a generic or NON Sony lamp is used. When was lamp last replaced and generic or?
