Hi...I have a Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV 32FS120 that is very difficult to turn on. When I try to power it on the stand by timer light blinks 9 times then stops the repeat for another 9 times. Aventunally the TV does come on after repeated pushs of the power button. Can some please tell it this something that I can repair or do I need a service person...Thank you in advance...David
This model does not have a G board. I will post when I have this solved.

Over the weekend my t.v. won't turn on it sounds like its going to but then the red blinking light keeps flashing 6 times. I have shut it down for 24-48 hours and still it won't turn on.
My Sony KV36HS500 Trinitron is doing the same thing. Last night the next street over was hit by lightning. The "7" blink pattern was happening, so like the manual stated, unplug it for 4 hours. Which I did. The t.v. is back up and running fine. It's a nice t.v., better than the plasma I paid over a grand for, that's already shot. It's a good t.v. and good that Sony put in the stand by protection to prevent the t.v. from dying an unnecessary young death. Patience, don't rush it, unplug the t.v. and leave it sit. Also, don't use a power strip, that was my mistake, and unplug your t.v. if storms are in the area, I was too lazy to and now I had to deal with this, in 8 years, only twice did this happen. I'd buy another one tomorrow if they still made them.

please help tv wont turn on
Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by the number of blinks. The words in parentheses are those, which you will see for each of these faults on a diagnosis screen described later in this article.
Intermittent problems? This is a great feature. You can also bring up these fault codes on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, ( not plus ) then Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. Each of the problems named, are abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC. We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink codes.
Now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them? Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking four times. This would tell you that you have no vertical sweep, which is why the video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a horizontal fault. It's not a sure cure..
IMPORTANT: After you repair the unit, you MUST clear the values on this diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the next time you enter this screen. Clearing is done by going into the service mode (display, channel, 5, volume plus, then power ). Press 8 and Enter,
Hope this may help;

My Sony Trinitron was working one minute....I put my TVR on pause and now my TV screen won't turn on...has 4 blinks in Standby. I've tried the hard reset..leaving it turned off for 5 hours..nothing. I understand according to previous articles about this that I'm supposed to "Check IC1509, Q1505" but what does that mean? How do I do that? Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks, Dan. I actually realize now that may model is different. Will that matter? My TV is a Sony Trinitron KV BM14M40.
Hello,
There are 3 reasons for 4 blinls
1.unit went to stand by mode because of h-pulse
2.Vertical defflection pulse stopped
3. power line is shhorted or power supply is stoped.
Solution:
1. check 13vdc on A board of powersupply stage
2. Check IC561 on A-board.
Good Luck

I have a SONY FD Trinitron WEGA KV-40XBR800 TV that will not turn on with the power button. Sometimes it will turn on if you hit the power button and quickly hit the tv button, then it will turn on and work just fine, but this will not work all the time. When it will not turn on,the red standby light will blink 6 times continously. I would appreciate some help. THANKS, JOHN
Hello,For model KV-40XBR800,
Pls check following area.
Low HV Shutdown:
On the D Board.
Check IC8004/pin 7 should be 7.4v.
Check IC8006/pin 2 should be 2.5v if lower will trigger shutdown by causing pin 1 to turn on.
Check IC8006/pin 3 reference voltage 2.2v.
IC8006/pin 1 normally at 0v. If high
turns D5007 ON which turns the latch circuit Q6532,
Q6530, and Q6527 ON and turns the AC relay RY6501 OFF.
And NOTE: 6 blinks also can be Low B+ protection.
Unregulated 7.5 v from the power supply to 5v reg IC504 on the A Board. 5v to M Board Q2314
to CPU IC2300/pin 43. If 5v missing set will shutdown with 6 blinks.
Good Luck

Can anyone tell me how to remove the "Video 1" from the screen. It used to appear for a time and then remove itself after a few seconds, now it stays on all of the time. The set is a Sony Wega 32"
Thanks for any help.
Usually, pressing the display button on the remote will cure this. You may also check in the set up menue for any display settings.
Hope this helps,

How can I reset a Sony Wega tv without a remote control... I stand by button keeps on flashing and the tv wont stay on for more than 3 sec.
You can only reset the TV when you have the remote as it requires holding down the RESET button on the remote control, then pressing the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off, then back on again. Then release the RESET button.
Regarding your problem with the TV not staying on for 3 seconds, you can try unplugging the unit for at least an hour to perform a hard reset of the microprocessor. If the unit still doesn't stay on, you need to check the power supply or the entire board for any blown or bad capacitor, shorted terminals due to accumulation of dirt, or broken solders. It may be a tedious task and requires an electronic prowess to do.
Kudos and thanks for using Fixya.

My Sony Trinitron 32" WEGA Model KV-32FS120 does not turn on when the power button is pushed. The stand by timer light flashes 9 times, pauses, then flashes 9 times again and again. Any idea what the problem is?
Hi,
There is IC600 MCZ3001DB mounted on main board in power supply section, replace it. This will solve your problem.
MCZ3001DB is available in Part Store.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair and can solder parts in circuit board then should attempt to repair TV by yourself and if you feel uncomfortable with working in TV, ask local tech to fix it.
Thanks.
