Color setting for Sony XBR Trinitron 36" any
Hello
I thinks that you need to set its colour and other parameters, and posted this problem. If so there is adjustment at the first "Menu" option itself.
Press "Menu" button on your TVs remote control. You will see "Video" function as first selection on the screen. Use "Prog Up or Prog Down" keys to select and hilight the desired parameter. Use "Vol up or Vol down" keys to change it as your taste. That is all.
Normally the "Contrast should be more that 55% to 60% of its total value to get a clear and vivid picture. Colour and brightness are according your individual taste. Ok
If you wants to reset your TV to factory settings,
Turn on the TV.
Hold down "Reset" button on your remote handset and keep it pressed.
Press and release the power button on your TV front panel. the TV will turn itself off.
Release the "Reset key". Ok

When switching on the tv the on light is flashing
Hello
It may be due to some sort of short in the horizontal output stage inside your TV. You just check the horizontal output transistor, can be located near to the Line Output Transformer [LOT]. It is the transistor that drives the LOT. Check whether it heats up abnormally or not. Anyway keep it out desoldered and check it for any leak. Especially its collector to base leak. If it is found leaky, replace it with the same type and number. If the replaced transisor also overheats, LOT is short. Replace the LOT also with Same Type and Number. Insist on same type and number. Never use substitutions. It is the most critical component in your TVs circuit. Ok
Have any further clarification, report to Fixya. They will give me alert.
Take all precautions before opening your tv by yoursef. Keep chldren away from you. let an adult beside you while you are working as a precaution. Never use metal chair while in work. Wear rubber or plastic footwear while working.

Hello
Check first your set top box's, or TVs antenna or ariel connection is tight or not. It it is Ok, if you are receiving signals from cable, ask the cable operator to check the signal strength at the cable end of your home. It is measure with a 'db' meter. If the strength of the received signal is very weak, the same channels should not mamorized, and strong signal channels only will lock in. If you are using external antena, try to reorient its postion.
Anyway your TV doesn't get sufficient signal strength.

My sony will go greenish and then shut off ...it
Hello
Your TVs ABL [automatic brightness Limiter} section has some trouble. It is in the main circut board. It can be located only by and experieced technician. You can't locate it by yourself. It needs the schematic diagram of the circuit of your TV. it consists of one or two resistors and capacitors and a zener diode.
Find someone who could repair it, or send it to the nearest Sony service center. Never try to repair by yourself. Some of Sony components are critical and very difficult to get loacally.

It will not turn on! it turns on an turns right
It is typical fault for most of the sony colour telivisions. Most common fault seen till now is shorted LOT. If LOT is short, normally horizontal output transistor may also short. There is a short circuit protection circuit in the power supply section of most of the sony telivisions, which will detect the short in the circuit , and will turn off automatically as you described. The process will repeat as you seeing now. Each time the power supply will turn on, it will detect the short and turn off. This process will repeat till you switch off the set. At first remove the horzontal output transistor and switch on the set and look for a constant LED lighting. If the LED lichts constantly, surely horizontl output section has a fault, a short. Detect the reason and rectify it.

Sound, no picture, Red LED 4 flashes
Hello Thanshar, Hi, you TV has sound, but no picture. this could be several things, and let us add the red led flash. In my analysis, no picture means no high voltage is reaching the picture tube. this could be due to a bad Horizontal output transistor, and/or a bad flyback transformer. This bad transistor is causing an overload to the power supply section, causing the 4 led flash to blink. Now i want to know if you want to do this service or get professional help. if you decide to do this by yourself, this needs to be performed: the Horizontal output transistor must be checked for short, the horizontal flyback transformer needs to be tested, the deflection yoke also needs to be checked, especially to horizontal coil.
