These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. When you unplugged it you removed power and the memory setting for full screen was wiped out. Go into your menu for screen size controls, reset, and all should be fine.

I think you might be referring to what's called, 'picture in picture (PIP). Its a feature of the TV that allows one to see what is on other channels while your current channel stays on the screen. Refer to your manual of how to disable, or if no manual, play with the remote to see what button eliminates it.

vertical circuit is out, some component failed. turn it on and when the line comes on hit the top of the case with the flat of your hand, if the line fluctuates or goes away you have a bad solder connection on the circuit board. if it doesn't make any difference when you smack it then something has failed completely. no user repairable parts inside.
