Have you used Parental control to block channels?
Maybe just go into the TV menu and unlock there.
If not and the TV is using a cable or Satellite box then just use Video 1 or others even channel 3 to get the channels from the box.
Today we have a lot of free digital TV from our old roof antennas you might look into that.
My own Cablevision on Long Island ,NY has lost 5 and 9 due to a dispute with their source but who cares I have digital from my roof antenna put up in 1965. Please let us know if these ideas helped.

Sony Televisions have indicators like blinking lights to give you a clue what parts have failed.
In your case it could be the worst your picture tube.
Do you remember how it normally would start (blinks) and if it was lacking ant color in the picture or if it just wasn't really clear any more?
10 years was a good life without any service.

Sony TV's use auto Kine bias a very old term meaning Kinescope or Picture Tube.
When your picture tube is up to full output (approx 30 seconds) the set will click and perform as normal.
If not the tube you see the picture on is not up and running in any one or all colors (RGB) or something else has not started.
Service or replacement of a 10 year old set may be what's next.

Listen carefully if there is any thumb sound comes from the speaker, when the set is power on. If it is, the sound output Ic inside the TV is faulty. If there is no sound symptom, the speaker may be out.

This is a tip I got from a tech bulletin.

IC600 output pins 14, 15, 16, all have aprox 130v (all should be higher) until relay clicks
then they drop off. 200v line goes up to 50v, 135 goes up to 40v.
Checked D611 (135v rectifier) it was fine. Checked D615 (It's labeled D601 on the board)
it was shorted. (D615 is the 19v rectifier for the Audio B+) Removed D615 set power up
and has good picture with no sound.

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

Just went thru the same problem with my sony kv-34. There are two IC's on the D circut board located on the left side looking from the rear. If you can solder 18 pin IC's without making a mess it is possible.If you have a friend thats real good with a pencil tip solder device. I recomend putting sockets in where the IC's were as you won't have to worry about overheating stuff next to the IC's.Do a google search: Sony led flashes ad select the second hit in the list.

First be aware that if you are using an antenna this television has an analog tuner which is no longer capable of receiving any digital signals which is the only channels being broadcast as of June 2009. If you have a cable or satellite receiver then here is the procedure for auto programing your channels. Make sure your active cable/satellite is plugged into Ant 1 (Antenna 1) on the back of your set.

On the front panel push the menu button until the "Channel" is highlighted. Then push either the plus button or the down button to highlight auto program.
Once that is done push plus or up and the set will automatically tune in all the available stations

I wouldn't suggest it, unless you truly feel confident in your own abilities. If you have proper insurance, then it can be repaired/replaced at no cost to you.

You'll probably have to replace the whole picture tube (I'm assuming it's a CRT) which can be costly and quite difficult to track one down; and if performed by the inexperienced, can even be quite dangerous as it's vacuum-sealed glass that'll send shards all over the place if it's abruptly struck with anything. The shards will normally go inwards, but sometimes they'll come flying out from the force of them hitting each other in the center of where the vacuum was.

9 blinks on the model implies faulty diodes on the G-board usually due to loose solder joints(this model is notorious for this problem) A qualified tech should do this for you for about 50$.

The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.

If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set.
If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.

Look through back of set when fault is on , can you see crt heater lit in neck of tube it not resoldered all connection from flyback transformer to crt base. If heater is lit then fault is due to a video drive fault not a easy to find without test gear.

I have the same problem with KV-20-FV-300. My remote stopped working and when I adjusted the volume manually, it goes to high and when it adjust it back down, it goes high again. I'm able to get the sound to stabilize by getting the volume to where I want it, and then pushing the up and down volume buttons at the same time. I'm still searching for a permanant solution though.

It sounds connections are not matched yet. Make sure connections are green to green, red to red and blue to blue in dvd player and tv are correct.
Try another component video cable.
If problem still exist, test dvd player to any other tv, found ok then component input of this TV is bad, need to get it repaired.

We had situations such as those described and found that customer is using liquids of some kind to clean the face of the CRT.Some dripping caused the tactile switches to get contaminated,thus acting the maner as you describe.We had to replace the tactile switches and the zener diode on the control board.

Just for the heck of it, check to see if the SAP setting is correct in the Audio selection menu. It should be set to Stereo.
