Will not power up----stand-by light
Hello
Six blinks of standby light in sony sets denotes the Horizontal Oscillation and output stop. It may be due to an Ic fault, or faut of some capcitors, or horizontal output trnsformer [LOT] or related component failure.
You must have a digital multimeter which can count frequency and have a concept of soldering. Just chek first for the secondary regulated main voltage [135VDC], ath the secondary side of SMPS. If it is ok, go to the line driver transformer, a small transformer fitted on the main board, very near to the LOT. Check its primary winding side for open circuted or not. If not check the voltage at the primary winding of that thransofrmer. Its one end is connected to the horizontal driver transistor. Measure the frequency at this point if there is voltage. It should come around 15.5KHz. If not suspect the horizontal video jungle Ic. To confirm whether this IC is faulty you must have the ability to follow the schematic diagram of the Tv, and some skill and experience in service.
If you have confidence inform me through Fixya. I'm ready to assist you. OK.

My 36xbr800 blinks six times
Check the voltage input to horizontal output transformer [LOT]. Check the voltage at the collector point of the line drive transistor. If the line drive transformer primary gets open this type of fault mau occur. Also check the frequency ant the collector point of line drive transistor and the base point of line output transistor. It should be aroung 15625 Hz.
Check and replace the horizontal output transistor if needy. Replacing it is better. The horizontal output is not working or a short in secondary power supply of SMPS or lot secondary, is your problem

Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. 7
blinks indicate high voltage shutdown, to start with you’ll have to open the
back of the unit and check the high voltage circuits. This happens when the
unit goes into safety shutdown mode as the high voltage exceeds. You’ll have to
check the area around the flyback transformer and high voltage anode, replace
the part that has gone bad. Please do accept the solution
if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

Red LED Standby light blinks 5 times. TV will not
This should be a scan failure indication. Usually its the flyback assembly, horizontal output transistor and a failure in the driver circuit, and or the power supply. It is possible the vertical amp could cause problems.
Your set will require shop service. The tech could troubleshoot for the fault and replace the defective parts. It may be of better value to replace the set.

It wont turn on anymore.
Depending on the age of your tv, if you hear a rapid clicking, it seems like your ballast is starting to turn on your tv but it's not able to. (1) Check your lamp, (2) reset the lamp timer, (3) make sure the cover panel is all the way. the positioning sensor might not be detecting the cover all the way in.
Personally I think you're experiencing a ballast problem.

6 blinking lights
Unplug the tv, remove the back, you may have to get a small paint brush,i use a 2" to remove all the dust on the parts board. Find parts C516 and C515 and IC206, you will need a ohm meter to check to see if they are faulty. You will need a solder ****** to remove the parts and solder and wicking wire to clean the circuit board where the parts were removed. You will need a tube of heat sink silicone to reinstall the IC if it is bad,be sure to clean the old silicone off, i use a paper towel, make sure to get it tight You can order parts at Mat Eletronics #1-800-628-1005, ...then reinstall.....hope this helps....

I have a new tv and it has a chemical smell....how
that smell will go away in time. I suggest you do air out your Dwelling to help the smell go away. But for the first month or 2 it will start to go away on its own. If its a burning smell shut down the TV and take it back to the retailer as that is a sign of the tv not in good conditions.
Thanks and please do rate this solution and please leave feedback!! Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at
