Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36XBR800 36" TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
2003 Sony Trinitron 36" television. Just shut off, light blinkin
The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the
television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps
below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of
the troubleshooting steps, Service will be required. Please note the number of times the
STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
- Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a
projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning
off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the
following steps.
- Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is
plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or
surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is
resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the
television.
- Turn on the television.

Sony Trinitron KV36XBR300
Best thing to do is get 3-4 people to haul it to the curb. That is a high voltage failure which can be related to a bad tube or flyback. That TV is too old to get parts for and not worth spending a single dime on.

Picture & sound winks out for a few seconds every now & then
The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

SONY Trinitron Wega KV-36XBR800 not working
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "
brand name" to your device, in the "
Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Sony xbr6 standby light blinks 14 times, pauses and repeats
Just count the number of blinks occur at one time. 14 blinks to trinitron TVs are not possible. It might be 10. If so,
- Check
Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the
" D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005,
also on the "D" board. If you wish to know more about blinking codes to Sony Trinitron models TVs, check this link. If it is Intermittent
problems? This is a great feature. You can also bring up these fault codes
on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the
problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly
different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press
the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, ( not plus ) then
Power. This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times
they have occurred. Each of the problems named, are abbreviated as,
"OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC. We have repeated
them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described above so
you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink codes.

Sony 36inxbr and it will not turn on
A lot of these are not getting fixed as very heavy set--typical repair in our shop is usually over 150 dollars and goes higher in some cases. If the red power light remains and blinks look for the number of blinks and then a pause and repeats that ---if so that is an error code. Most common failures in this set are on the D board--D for deflection.
