Sony DVP-NS50P not ejecting
hi,
You have to check the try loading belt of you dvd. if the belt is loose or broken the will not be ejected. you can see only OPEN in the display. You can simply check is it related to belt. Power on the dvd player and then press the eject button. Place you ear on the top of the player and listen is there is any humming sound (sound of motor running). If you hear the sound then the belt have some problem.if there is no sound then the problem is related to the electronic part which drives the motor. if so you have to change the mother board of you dvd player. Because the all the parts in it are smd( surface ***** device) also the availability of the part is very rare. Also you have to consult the sony authorized servicing center to repair the same.
If you here the sound then you Can rectify the problem by replacing the belt. Normally you cant see the belt from the top of the mechanism. Because it is beneath the tray. you can see it only if the tray is in eject position.
Remove the top cover of your dvd player. As it is sony dvd player you can eject the tray manually. for that watch the bottom of your dvd player. You can see a slot closed by a plastic strip just bottom of the mechanism. Pull out the plastic strip. Watch through the slot. you can see a Noach which you can move manually to the left and right. put a screwdriver in it and pull the Noach to the side. the try will get ejected. Not fully but partially. You have to pull out the tray fully manually.
If you closely look at the inner end side of the try then you cn see a motor and belt. if the belt is loose it will be in there in the motor pulley and in the wheel. if its broken broken then you have to find it where it . Take the belt as sample and bring a new one. you will get the belt at any of the electronic spare parts shop near you. Put the new belt in the position. inset the tray by pushing it in to inside slowly. power on the dvd player and the press the eject button.

It won't play dvd's in
Please check the type of disc that you're playing.
Generally, if the NTSC format disc being played in PAL Player or vice versa will cause this issue. Please use the NTSC format disc in NTSC player and PAl disc in PAL player.
Please check if the Player is connected to the display device with the correct cables and to the correct jacks.
Please make sure to connect the Component OUT (Red, Blue, Green cables) to the Component IN (Red, Blue, Green).
If you are using the Compiste connection (Yellow, Red and White), please connect the Video OUT of the Player to the Composite or Video IN on the TV using the Yellow cable and Red and white for audio according to the color codings.
Please try with different jacks on the TV to confirm if the issue is with the Jacks on the TV.
Please try power resetting the TV and check if that helps.
Turn off the Player.
Unplug the Player power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the Player remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
If the issue is still unresolved, the Player needs to be Serviced at the Authorized Service Center.

How can record?
This model is not capable of recording. It will play CDR and CDRW, this printed on the machine might have missled you to belive that it can record when in fact its just telling you the types of disks that can be played.
It says it can't read any disk
A few small things to try. Turn off unit, unplug for 5 minutes, plug back in, turn unit on.
There is a product called a cd/dvd lens cleaning disc. Worth the investment to have around.

What Operating System do you have?
What you need is a DVD authoring program. You have a plethora of programs for Linux (K3b, DVDAuthor...) and for Windows, it depends on the Version (XP: Windows Movie Maker, Vista: Windows DVD Maker).
Just open the concerned program, create a new project, add your movie and burn your DVD!
