Sony CDX-S2200 CD Player Questions & Answers
If you havw geen listening to the radio and switch
check to besure your power supply fuse is not blown, other wise sounds like you have it connected to wrong 12 volt source, I think there sould be 2 12v connections to the radio one when the car is powered the other constant power.
Need a pic of wiring up to my van as some idio cut
The best advise I can give is to use the connection that you baught and
cut of the end that connects to your VAN then you need to isolate the
correct leads from your car. The chances are that they wont be the same
colour so if you can get your hands on a voltmeter you should be able to
find the correct leads. The manual for the stereo should tell you the
correct colour wires for the head unit red=live black=neg.
Additionally, send us details about brand, year and model of your VAN, could be there some wiring diagram.
Keep in touch.
CDX-S2200 fitting to old golf
haha, yea sorry about that must have clicked the wrong button... if they spliced that old sony harness to the factory harness and did not cut the factory plug off then you can go to you local bestbuy or car audio store and get an adapter for your factory harness... but, if you have the tools and the time, its faster and cheaper just to hardwire on the new one... as for an adapter to convert the old sony to the new sony plug... ive never seen an adapter for that...
Radio and clock memory goes when engine is switched off
The radio was installed incorrectly or the memory wire has somehow been disconnected. The memory wire is the one which is connected to a permanent 12v feed even when the ignition is turned off.
The permanent feed is usually red, the memory feed is usually yellow (and a poor/lazy fitter may have piggy-backed it onto the red wire). Just connect the yellow to a fused permanent 12v source:either direct to the battery/starter motor terminal, or you can find others attached to the hazard flashers and often to the brake light switch on the pedal assembly.
Do yourself a big favour when doing the job and avoid clip on Scotchlok wiring connectors: they're a constant source of faults and no substitute for proper crimp-on bullet/spade connectors.

Frozen buttons
Hi I am Vortash your radio I take it has a removeable security face , is it the type that folds down on a slide that allows you to put the cd in behind or do you place the cd through a slot in the faciure .. if it is the afformentioned then check the connecting ribbon is not damaged and cracked stopping the opperations .. if it is the latter check that the pins on the rear of the facia are clean and undamaged .. failing that there is nothing that you can do other than try a new facia or return it to the manufactures .. If you are In the Uk and your unit is under six years old then you have rights under the consumer act to get it repaired or replaced by the shop you purchased it from even if the guarantee has expired . All goods in the uk are coverd by this act so dont let the shop tell you any diffrent .. if they dont play ball report them to trading standards and they will take up your case in law . check out
www.bbc.co.uk/oneshow and it is explained on there . If in the USA check out your consumer rights with the department of consumer trading .. hope this helps regards Vortash
