On/off button fell off Sennheiser wireless mic

This is quite common with G2's, and really annoying!
If you are lucky, 50% of the time the red button is pushed inside the mic.
You need to remove the bottom section:
- open the battery compartment
- there should be 3 star-bit screws around the outside (remove)
- pull the bottom of the mic off

If the red button is not inside, they are available as a spare part from Sennheiser dealers.

Be carefull when putting the mic back together, it needs to line up correctly with the internal guides, forcing the base back on could damage the ribbon cable. when the line-up is correct it slides on very easily.

Best of luck.

On/off button broken

You should'nt need a scematic, this happens all the time with the ew100 handhelds. you will need to remove the three star bit screws between the screen and the batteries, pull off the end cover and with a small screwdriver or some long needle nose pliers- put the red button back into the hole from the inside of the cover. Just take care when putting the end cover back on- sometimes its a bit difficult.
Goodluck

Issue more complicated than originally thought!

This isn't a solution. But after I've gotten into my microphone with the same issue using a torx screwdriver I found that I (Electrical Engineer) don't have the proper equipment to fix the issue. Roughly 100 dollars (Flat rate) and a send off to Sennheiser is your best bet.

Hi,

To repair the on/off switch of the handhelt it would cost abt 15 minutes and $2,00 for the switch.

We have a Sennheiserew100 G2

This is probably interference in the wireless connection for the lavalier mic.
Try switching channels to find a clear one!
Or switch to a wired lav mic if that's practical.

Wireless mic sounds overmodulated (?) crackley, distorted.

The Canon HV20 mini plug audio input has a very limited useful range, but you should be able to adjust your setup to get acceptable results.
Just on a side note, you can get a wired lavalier mic at Radio Shack for $15 that could make the problem go away, or at least eliminate a lot of electronics ... but the cable will only be about 15 feet long ... you could use an extension, just make sure it's mono.

Couple notes: One is that the mini plug input on the HV20 is a stereo microphone input, and you're plugging in a mono source. This will not cause distortion, but is not ideal ... a simple stereo adapter to break down the input (mono mic into one side of stereo adapter, stereo adapter into camera) would optimize the situation.
Another thing is, you have at least two volume controls that absolutely MUST be adjusted correctly ... hopefully one of these is the problem and soon will be the solution.
I don't know the Sennheiser wireless set in particular, but it probably has a volume control on the receiver box (which might be over by your camera) .. the other is actually IN the camera software ... go through the menus and see if you can select audio input volume and try the "auto" setting, and also try the "manual" setting, and when on manual, turn it down. This is the audio input volume control for the camera itself. It is the level that corresponds to the small level meters you can see in the camera's LCD screen ...
Good luck! You are not alone with these issues ... the beauty of modern video cameras is in their small size, but it's also a problem because you are not provided with proper audio inputs - you have to deal with the stereo mini plug input, which is less than ideal.

Frequency clash

There are different frequencies available and being used in each location.

To get a basic idea of which frequencies are available in your area, try this online tool:
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/findfrequency/
or use the literature provided with the Sennheiser gear (usually a useful chart comes with the wireless gear).

Also, remember that your transmitting frequencies need to be spaced apart a minimum of .400 MHz (or 400 kHz).

Frequency selection shouldn't cause feedback problems though. If you select a frequency for a mic that a local TV station is already using to broadcast, it will cause RF Interference (Radio Frequency). You'll probably hear static noises, pops, or since your Sennheiser has a Squelch feature, just drop-outs in audio.

So first consult the available charts to find a set of frequencies that should be available in your area. Then, if one of your mics is experiencing such an issue, try moving it .400 MHz to the nearest unused frequency and see if the RFI goes away. Repeat until the RFI no longer manifests.

Eighth in microphone jack/wire bad

You might want to check the other end as well. Take a ohm meter and check the wires to make sure their is a reading on both. The wire you speak of is called shielded cable and there should be no reading between the sheilding and the center conductor when they are seperated from the capsule. If there is a reading you have a short. To clarify, the outer sheild should read at or near zero when you check @ each end as should the center conductor ( the white ) wire. There should be no reading between the two (the sheild and the white) when they are unhooded @ each end. Also when the capsule is unhooded you should get a reading between the two terminals, if not the capsule is open and needs replacement.

Mute problem in receiver

Try adjusting your squelch level, it should be no higher than 05 or 10. If a higher squelch level is required it means you are on an active channel and need to change to another free on.

Sennheiser RS 175 TV headset has green lit power light blinks on and off. And headset doesnt have any volume. Help!

If your Sennheiser RS 175 TV headset has a green lit power light that blinks on and off and doesn't have any volume, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the batteries: Ensure that the batteries are charged and inserted correctly into the headset. You may also want to try replacing the batteries with fresh ones.
  2. Check the audio source: Make sure that the audio source is turned on and the volume is turned up. You may also want to try connecting the headset to a different audio source to see if the problem is with the source.
  3. Check the audio cable: If you are using an audio cable to connect the headset to the audio source, make sure that it is plugged in securely at both ends.
  4. Reset the headset: Try resetting the headset by turning it off, unplugging the transmitter from the power source, waiting for a few minutes, and then plugging the transmitter back in and turning the headset on again.
  5. Check for interference: Make sure that the transmitter and headset are not too far apart or obstructed by walls or other objects. Also, ensure that there are no other devices nearby that may be causing interference.
If none of these troubleshooting steps work, you may need to contact Sennheiser customer support or take the headset in for repair.
