If you are taking the sound output from the green output socket on the back of your tower, then your speakers must be powered by a mains adapter. You will have a black main adapter similar to a mobile phone charger, and the output from that on a thin wire will plug into one of your speakers, normally the one with the volume control on it. To test if the speakers are powered up and working, plug an MP3 player into the green plug that goes to the speakers, does that play ok?

Brand new:
1.Some microphones have a dynamic mic meaning it will work with all audio inputs
but this may have a condensor mic meaning it requires phantom power to operate.
your computer soundcard may not supply this.
so you need to purchase a phantom power injector.. there availible at most audio stores and electronics retailers.

if your unit had worked before but has since stopped:

2. Microphone lead/connection is faulty
if your feeling confident you will need to disasemble the unit and replace the lead

tools you will need:
screwdrivers,
multimeter
soldering iron
solder.

and some single wire shielded cable again availiable at most electronics stores.
just need to replace cable with new one and add a 3.5mm Jack to end..

I have a Labtec am-242 NCAT Mic don't have a driver.Does anyone know which website i can go to to donwload the driver for this Mic. without getting the run around and websites tryng to sell me their products.i just want the driver for this Mic.

Make sure the mic is selected on the record tab in your sound properties (Vista). Questions--please reply

Rt. click the volume control icon from your notification area or the control panel and choose advance settings and make sure the microphone line in level is not at zero. Open your recording program (like sound recorder from Accessories>Entertainment) and you should be able to record sound input from your microphone.

I would use system restore to put the lost stuff back onto your computer. Then if it puts back the unwanted software be more careful about removing it.
