No fire to plug need to test coil
take plug out with wire connected pull cord and see if there is spark in theplug you may have to go in the garage where it is alittle darker

Possible ignition switch problem
Sounds like a bad wire at the ignition switch, disconnect the battery, remove the ignition, or if you can see the wires connected to the switch look for broken wire, also check safety switches on seat and engage mower switch.

While mowing under some bushes, my engine abruptly
There is a very easily bent little linkage on the carb of some Briggs mowers that , when hit by a low branch, bends back and drops the mower to an idle . Have a look where the cable attaches to the carb, it moves a wee plate that pulls on a very fine ( thin) spring at full throttle. If you can see that the spring is not being pulled when full throttle is applied, bend the plate till it does.
Then take a pair of pruners ( or a chainsaw ) and low prune your bushes around the lawn , it looks pretty and will stop it happening again.
