My Panasonic SA HT-680 went

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Do this:
1. leave the TV on,
2. turn comcast box off,
3. press Menu button ON THE BOX till menu appears on the screen,
Now you can control you subtitles and other "secret" functions.

Panasonic SA-HT680 Home theater problem

Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262
1. Unplug the unit power.
2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit.
3. Turn it on.
4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears.
5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON.
6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.

CD/DVD PROBLEM ON A PANASONIC SA-HT680

Check your "Setup Menu" with NO DVD in the player. Could be the wrong format, should be 720p or 1080i or 1080p. Are you using Component cables to your TV or HDMI? if Component, check your connections, it is color coded but may be hard to see with most installations. Use a flashlight to make sure colors are correct Red to Red, Blue to Blue and Green to Green. Sounds like you've got cables mixed up. It happens to the best of us! and I do it for a living! Hope this helps

How do I get my tv to play through the surround sound

If you have direct cable into the television, you will need to use an audio output if available on the back of your set into your HT system.

If you are using cable w/ a cable box you have two options. You can still connect everything directly into the TV then reroute the audio to the HT system... or, you could hook only video to the TV and audio from the cable box to the HT system. Really up to you.

CONNECTING THE PANASONIC SC HT680 TO A SONY TRINITRON COLOR TV AND CABLE BOX

audio/video OUT from the cable box to the aux IN on the panasonic right? So you can see the output from the cable box but only sound from dvd. Are you changing the input on the tv when you go from watching the cable box to watching the DVD? the panasonic handles audio, but the video from each goes to two different inputs on the sony. I hope none of this sounds condescending.

Do not know how to connect the tv, theatre system to the cable box.

have you got the cable box video out (yellow RCA) connected to the video input on the panasonic? What kind of tv is it? Is the tv displaying the input that the panasonic is connected to? If "progressive" is selected, it will not display on a standard definition tv. Does it matter which mode the panasonic is in (CD/DVD)? I guess I'm just asking for more info ;-)
