If screen size is smaller, is the size changing when turning channels ? If so then you have to go into settings and change the aspect ratio to either Normal (then all channels will appear the same). If you choose a size then all the channles will appear that way. Your color wheel could be going out if the green color is not working or has problems "meshing" with the other colors. Ur tv 100% have a problems known as a convergence picture peoblems.The tv convergence board it is dead,if any of the colors lines R,G,B mis alignments and u will not able to auto or manually to adjust any of the R,G,B colors lines to alignments any of them up.The tv convergence board must be replace like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To fixed the tv convergence board to solved the tv convergence picture problems.The tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

If you try to adjust convergence with the flash focus, perfect focus, (depending on the make of your set) or by manual convergence and the lines will not line up or even move. Your symptom sounds like a damaged convergence IC.

If you want to repair this set yourself, I have some instructions below that will be a help to you.
While it is not a very hard repair, this repair can be a bit tricky. If you have a 45W soldering iron, solder, solder wick, heat sink compound, and some basic soldering skills, you can repair the television yourself.

If your set is not producing a clear picture and the colors are not lining up, do not continue to watch the set as this can lead to further failure and possibly damage the individual CRT's in the set.

With that aside I have some support suggestions that I have put together that may help you make an informed decision. You should be able to get a local service center to repair this at your house for between $350.00 - $450.00, If you want to repair this set yourself, I have some instructions below that will be a help to you. While it is not a very hard repair, this repair can be a bit tricky How do I tell if the IC's are damaged? Since you cannot look inside of an IC, you will have to locate some of the components in the area around the convergence IC's. You may be able to see some resistors that have changed colors or you test a resistor and it no longer reads the value marked by the color bands or the printed value. You will have to replace the IC's and the supporting components.When you remove the old IC's, please be sure to remove all of the old heat sink compound, as it can act as an insulator for the new IC's and cause them to overheat. I usually clean the heat sinks with alcohol and a small rag. Where are the IC's located and how do I find them?There are two and large IC's that control the convergence in a big screen set. Some of the newer sets only have one. If you only have one, it is right in the middle of the set on the center circuit board. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. They will have a part number stamped on them that will start with an STKXXX-XXX, like STK392-110.Along with the convergence IC's there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC's and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values.If one of the convergence IC's are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. Are you using Component cables? Will it do 720p just fine from the xbox? Have you tried putting the cables in the same input as your cable box and seeing if it will do 1080i there? Some inputs will only do certain resolutions.

suggest you check the signal source settings. Eg, if it is a set top box driving that input then check that device picture settings are set to widescreen (16:9) format.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

CONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

in panasoni tvs each number of blinks reprents a genral ida of what is wrong with it so that the technician know where to look in this case it is the convergence ics nowyou can order them yourself but i do not recommed it as these are very sensitive chips call your local tv repair gys and youll ger up and running either that day or within a couple days,

I have attached some photos of really bad convergence problems; your picture may not be exactly as bad as these.

Because there were so many RPTVs, their are many diagnostic routines. Without knowing the brand, it is impossible to tell which one applies to you. But I'll say this; Repair parts are rare and expensive, and I much as I hate to say it because I am a guy who prides himself on being able to repair anything made on planet Earth, some times, we have to let and buy one of those new LCDs or LED sets.

What is your model number? Most of these sets use the same parts--if a convergence problem I have start to finish instructions for this repair.

Yes, you will need to hook it up just like a normal DVD.
If you can use the component inputs you will get a better picture.

I have attached some photos of really bad convergence problems, your picture may not be exactly as bad as these, but here is something to compare your set with.

Your Projo is a complicated piece of equipment, involving 3 picture tubes (like 3 tv's), convergence failures are extremely common, I dont think $550 is totally unreasonable, but I dont think it is a power supply issue if it is just effecting 1 color, usually it would cost around $100 parts $300 labor to repair, might be a little high, I suppose they are also charging you for pickup and delivery, I hate taking sets into office as that sometimes jars stuff loose or cracks boards.
