Sony DVP-SR500H DVD Player Questions & Answers
We bought a new Sony
After NOTHING worked (including tips from other sites) I took it apart and literally forced the tray in and out of the player. Guess what? The damn thing works like a champ now!!!!!
Why does my dvd player read, will not play disc?
IS this a dvd you recorded or a commercially made dvd? If youmade it yourself, pop it in the computer and look at the format it was recorded. when the dvd player reads the dvd does it come back with an index of some sort?
No color
sounds like the cable hook up may be wrong.check that all cables are correctly matched by color to the plugs on both the tv and the dvd player.Make sure all components are turned off before doing this. Also try unplugging all cables that connect dvd to tv and then reconnect.Check cables for any frays or cuts, replace if necessary. Also try this link if none of the above help: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DVPSR500H&LOC=3&session_id=8c3d6382bd67858dd90a5bb0cab1f8e3#/howtoTab
My tv displays "format not supported"
Too many variables with what you are describing here. How old is the TV and how old is the DVD player. Did you verify that the components were all plugged in to their corresponding colors....blue to blue, red to red, green to green. Is the RGB cable verified good. Another common mistake is to plug the video jacks into ex. VID 1 while the Audio is on VID 2. Make sure they are on the same numbered input and that the TV is on the input your jacks are in. The HDMI may not work because there are three different HDMI types and not all play well with each other. The problem can be fixed with an HDMI converter but gets into more cost. Eliminate above mentioned and repost. I would be glad to troubleshoot you through this.
Phillips codes
Download a regional code *.iso file (search google, there are many), burn it to a dvd and place it in the machine to install. If it does not install automatically check the manual for install instructions.
