progressive scan error turn off progressive scan

This is one of the worst thing that has happened with manufacturers trying to save cost by cutting down the number of buttons on a player ( also due to the slim profile for the player ). There are only basic keys like play, stop , eject and power on most of the new players. No navigation key or advanced functions like OK/Enter etc: with out which some DVD's won't even play.

pscan showed up on my dvd player and I shut the switch off on the back...all good! thanks for the inpu!

on the back of the dvd there is a black interruptor, it should be set as PSCAN OFF. thats all folks

possible solutions:
-insert disc with labelside up
-clean cd/dvd blanc surface with a soft fabric
-use cleaning cd to clean lens
-change pick-up laser (service issue)

You need to turn closed captioning settings to none or off
on your video settings for the TV

yes..... you need to unplug (power) the player for 10 - 15 mins... plug back into wall, but when you do this press the stop/open/close button (because the player will try to load the disc).....

You have problem with either spinning motor or lens and need the replacement.

Your lens is defective and need a replacement.

Some times I find an open capacitor where the power transistor is "heat sink mounted" also check to see if the transistor itself is shorted, failing that it is probably one of the smaller parts on the power supply board that is gone.

It sounds like power supply problem, I have found that sometimes the main filter capacitor opens causing the machine to fail. It will take a professional to determine if that is the case or there is something else wrong.

There will be a small hole in the front tray of the DVD, use a straightened paper clip, or similar stiff wire, & push it into the hole and gently push in, until you hear/feel a "Click" gently keep pushing 7 it should now come open,

I am not even sure I am allowed to tell you this but if you take out all the screws holding the cover in place so you can clean the lens inside with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol it will most likely fix your DVD player. MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED!!! If you dont UNPLUG it you can cause serious injury or death! I myself have fixed several read errors by doing so. Make sure to replace cover before plugging it back in.

Hello, you can solve this by using the remote control to change the format back to colour. Follow the steps to enable you fix it.
on the remote control look for the N/P button careful
Press the button twice t o enable the colour format.
If you find it difficult, you can refer to your manual that came with the DVD player....

Check at the back of the unit, there should be a switch to set the P-Scan on and off. Please turn it off and restart the unit. That should fix the problem.

Depending on the model you can also have a button indicated as P/I in the remote control.
