It sounds like one of the OTS buttons is getting triggered accidentally. There may be a build up of residue behind the button. With the unit off, try rapidly pressing the OTS buttons, one at a time. This should help to move any debris which may be creating a false contact.
If you are feeling brave, you can try opening the keyboard and getting inside, under the button with some electrical contact cleaner such as DeOxit or Servisol. But be warned: it can be difficult to get the parts back together properly! So if you don't have much servicing experience, call your local music shop to find a service technician.

Likely a connection to the backlight is being broken. Tap on the unoit and see if it pops back on. Illuminate screen with a flashlight and see if the characters can be seen when screen is faded. If they can, then the backlight is the problem... IF NOT then the display may be bad... This has been a problem and if you are under warranty, excersise it immediately... else replacement of the display is relatively expensive.

You MAY be confusing touch sensitivity with VELOCITY sensing. Touch sensitivity is PRESSURE put on AFTER the note sounds that causes modulation. VELOCITY is what is used for example to control the loudness of pianoo notes depending how fast they are struck. VELOCITY sensing is done by using TWO contacts at every key... one closes first. IF one of these gets dirty, FULL velocity will be sensed and it will be LOUD. The contacts can be cleaned using ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Qtips after MUCH disassembly of the keyboard. The contacts are conductive rubber pills in silicone rubber domes. Clean boththe contacts and the circuit traces they pres down onto.
My Yamaha psr 2000 when switched on only the blue backlight is getting displayed on the screen and none of the function keys are getting lit up
If your Yamaha PSR-2000 keyboard is turning on and the blue backlight is displayed on the screen, but none of the function keys are lit up and not responding, there may be a few different causes.
- Check if the power supply is working properly and is providing enough power to the keyboard. If the power supply is faulty, it may not be providing enough power to the keyboard.
- Make sure that the keyboard's internal battery is charged. If the battery is low, the keyboard may not function properly.
- Check if the internal fuse of the keyboard is not blown, which is a common problem on electronic devices.
- If none of the above steps work, the problem may be with the control board or the display, and the machine may need to be serviced by a professional technician.
I would recommend checking the user manual or contacting the Yamaha technical support for further assistance, as they may have specific troubleshooting steps or solutions for your model.
