HP PL4245N 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television Questions & Answers
I have a Panasonic Plasma while I am watching T.V.
It could be a power supply issue...Check the filter caps to see if any are leaky...bulged at the top, or if you have an ESR meter you can check them in ckt for excessive series resistance...in order to check for capacitance, they will need to be removed for that test...hope this helps....
I have a Toshiba 50hp66.
Maybe you have a short circuit. But all the way. Take the board outside of the monitor. Try to start them: if the problem happens again you're lucky. If the board remains up and running, is your screen who have a problem and then you don't have 1000 possibilities. Found the problem or change screen.
Our HP5060N/ HP PL4260N Plasma
Hi, I have just experienced the exact same loud pop sound. Then no picture or sound. Just died. Spoke with a rep at HP and was told that this (having owned for 4 years) is out of warranty and the "main board" has died. It will cost $629.00 plus tax to repair. This would provide a 90 day warranty on those parts replaced. It's about the same to buy a new tv! So I am throwing this JUNK away and will never buy HP again. Best of luck to you all!
I have a HP PL4245N
Hello
I thinks you may be right. All plasma and LCD panel tVs will have cooling fans at the top side. Plasma screens will heat up much more, and if cooling fans stops work, of has damaged, the set will overheat, and awill automatically shut down; because there is a overheat sensor fitted inside it, will sense the heat, and if the set overheats, it will send a signal to the main system control fo the TV; which in turn shut down the whole system. look fans for proper working. If not replace them. OK.
I have a Hp PL4245N
usually means a dead power board/inverter board. need to swap out to confirm.
HELP! A growth is taking over my plasma screen!
This sounds like a problem with gas in the panel, early plasmas suffered with similar problems and was due to excessive periods when they were stored face down, a plasma must always be stored verticle and not laid down.
I cannot help you with this but if its under warranty it could be due to either warehouse storage or the carrier.
I have a 3501q00200a powerboard in a 50hp66
The voltage regulator goes bad when that happens. its located on the power supply.
You would need to replace that and test the resistors next to it for the proper value.
For any parts you can get them at tvpartsandmanuals online. if you have a voltage meter
set it up on ohms and test the resistors, check the color codes to determined the value.
black for 0
brown 1
red 2
orange 3
yellow 4
green 5
blue 6
violet 7
gray 8
white 9
those are your color codes.. for any more questions. you can ask me at

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
If you have no TV menu either check for any swollen capacitors on the power supply.
If none are found measuring voltages will localize the defective board or boards the voltage test points are marked VA and VS on the panel and boards.
If disconnecting boards restores these voltages the suspected boards must be replaced .
Tech labor is about $250 plus parts.
Suspected boards
power supply
Y sus main & Y buffers
Logic board
mainboard
panel

Same problem as rrobert4
The power supplies in modern TV sets are absolutely miserable and probably half of all problems stem from power supply malfunctions, not caused by circuits beyond them.
BTW, the main filter caps that you are replacing don't fail that often. Mostly it is lower value, lower voltage caps in the supplies feedback path that keeps the supply regulated and running are at fault.
