NO SOUND FROM MOTHERBOARD
check driver, sound connection to wire to the mother board there should be @ least two sound output(connection) @ any board. vista and newer os do not have drivers. best check with manufacturer when update do not have it.

Sounds like you need to reinstall your audio drivers. Go to the Asus website and download the latest audio drivers for your motherboard and save them to a temp file. Then go into the device manager and remove the current drivers and restart your system. Then install the new audio drivers from your temp directory you saved the new driver to. Restart then go into your audio devices and configure the output to what you want.
Sower no on but power supply ok
check all of your connection on plugs on board make sure that you have the power swith line on the motherbroad panel right as well

The Asus p5kpl am motherboard will run windows 8. There are no drivers for windows 8 at the Asus site yet, but if you need drivers after the install, you can try the windows 7 drivers.Drivers can be found here :http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P5KPLAM/#support_Download
Very slow installation of windows 8 on asus p5kpl/am/ps
Can be a lot of things, can be your hard drive. Your PC is not set to run win 8, yes people put it on older machines, but some don't realize it's not running properly.Windows 8 has a call for a CPU that has- PAE, NX, and SSE2 features, if the CPU does not have these you will have problems. Most all motherboards that now support win 8, have had BIOS updates for the kernel of win 8. Only the newest one's out are set to support win 8, but they had BIOS made for it. Your system has no BIOS updates at all. There is a utility that will check your CPU to see if win 8 will run on the system, but you need have the OS working, like win 7.Read this page, and try and run this utility. It would be best for you to reinstall win 7 and run it. The only reason win 8 will work better is if it is on a system that was made to run it.Here is the link to read and the test.
