just buy a remote one that hooks to the antenna output and the antenna hooks to it. Save your radio. If you sold it and the person you sold it to didn't want a toy then you would have to remove it.this way you can remove the toy and use it on another radio,or sell it too.

What is the make and model of the antenna? Most have a set screw on the whip above the spring. You loosen that and move the whip up and down

The protection diode (a black, tub looking devise) hooked to the positive power wire near the back of the radio, is most likely your problem. No more than 2.5 SWR.

That is your "SWR TOO HIGH" warning light. Check the SWR of your antenna.

MIGHT BE A BAD SPEAKER TRY AN EXTERNAL SPEAKER AND CHECK IT THAT WAY . iF THAT DONT DO IT YOU MIGHT HAVE A BROKEN WIRE IN YOUR MIC. !!

if you are talking about the reverse polarity diode its there , right by the power wires that come into the radio. way in the back on the R.H. side.

why remove it fix the problem.

I think its vr6 in that radio but you have to turn it till you hear noise. did you use a signal generator to set the squelch?

Sounds like high swr. If using a mag mount antenna; check for a proper ground by cleaning the antenna base and the place where you put the antenna. Any other antenna; check the place where the whip goes into the coil at base of the antenna. Make sure that antenna has good ground. Check continuity of the pl259. Make sure there is a good connection and no opens or shorts. Hope it helps. Tom

you will have to take it to a repair shop and let them fix it or buy another one .

do you have it on calibrate?

First make sure the switch on the front is not set to PA or Weather if the unit has the weather featurre.Then look to see if the receive/transmit meter is showing any movement in either mode.You had a Connex board installed? I bet that is wired wrong or a wire came off in the processDo it yourself installation or a "expert"?

Have the SWR or match on the system checked, high match does not mean a bad antenna but can be a open or short in the system for the antenna.

use a cigarette lighter plug ,its safer.

lot of possibilities but the one I'm thinking of is , did you buy this radio new or used. If you bought it used there is a chance that the person that owned it last broke it and couldn't fix it so he sold it to you. Now you see the problem and want to fix it but don't know where to start. ok ,here goes. Check your antenna system A bad ground will will give you this problem.Make sure you SWR is low. then if that doesn't cure it open the radio and check for bad solder joints. Flex the radio and see if ti comes on. Check to see how it will cost to fix it ,then go buy another one.Only if no other options work.

check your standing wave with a meter (not the one on the radio they are junk)if you are under a 1.5 swr then open the radio find vr-6 audio the radio adjust it untill it goes off,if you are going to run a kicker turn it all the way off.
