How to install a copy cat noise toy?
Usually those "noise toys" are simple. Red is 13.8 power, but wire it to a switchable power so when ya turn the radio off....its off. Black is ground. White is wired to the audio pin on the mic. jack inside. Then tuck it in so its stable somewhere.
How to change the final on a cobra 29
It is simply a matter of unsoldering the old one from the board and then taking out the screw holding it on to the heat sink. Don't loose the insulator that goes between the transistor and the aluminum and be sure to apply new silicone heat transfer paste to both sides of the insulator. Put the screw and insulating washer back in and tighten. Then carefully bend the new leads and solder them back to the board. If you are not skilled in soldering then you a great risk of damaging the board by overheating it. This ruins the board in most cases. The radio should be retuned by someone with the proper equipment such as a service monitor and not Bubba down the street. Every transistor is different, even those with the same numbers on them. You might try the radio after replacing the final and see if the output power is satisfactory. If so it may work fine if a good technician is not available. Actually something caused the final to blow and the problem should be tracked down before spending money in repairs to have the same thing happen again. Bad antennas are the major cause of blown finals.
